Description
Electric Bike Tour of Leadville's Historic Mining District
Roll out from downtown Leadville on an e-bike and loop through North America's highest incorporated city, past the old saloons, storefronts, and mining ruins left behind from the silver boom of the 1880s. The pace is easy and the terrain forgiving, giving you time to take in the mountain air and the Sawatch Range rising above town while your guide narrates the stories behind the buildings and sites you pass.
With the e-bike handling the elevation, this ride is built to be enjoyed rather than endured — it's a relaxed way to see a historic mining town most visitors only drive through, with the electric assist making the thin mountain air at 10,000+ feet a non-issue.

FAQs
Do I need previous e-biking experience to join a tour?
No experience is needed — our guided rides are beginner friendly, and your guide will make sure you're comfortable with the bike before you head out. You'll just need to be comfortable riding a regular bike.
What will we see on this ride?
This route loops through downtown Leadville and its historic mining district, passing old saloons, storefronts, and mining ruins from the silver boom of the 1880s.
How far do we ride?
This is a 15-mile guided loop around the city of Leadville, back to the starting point.
Should I prepare for the altitude before this tour?
Yes — Leadville sits at 10,152 ft, so the air is noticeably thinner and drier than most guests are used to. Drink water often, even before you feel thirsty, and don't be surprised if you feel a bit more winded than usual. Headaches, dizziness, or feeling out of breath after minimal effort are common at this elevation — if you start feeling off, just let your guide know and we'll happily slow down or take a break. There's no prize for pushing through it.
What is the terrain like?
This route passes through Leadville's historic district, so expect some uneven sidewalks, loose gravel, and older sections of road along the way. Sturdy, closed-toe shoes are recommended — this isn't a sandals kind of ride.
Will we see any wildlife?
It's possible! Leadville is home to plenty of local wildlife, including the occasional moose. If you spot one, please admire it from a distance — moose can be unpredictable up close. We ask that you not feed or approach any wildlife along the ride.
Can we explore any of the mine sites up close?
For safety, we stick to the route and don't explore inside old mine shafts or structures — they may look interesting, but abandoned mining sites can be genuinely dangerous. Your guide will point out the history and give you a good look from a safe distance.
What happens if a thunderstorm rolls in during the tour?
Afternoon thunderstorms are common in the Colorado high country, especially in summer. If lightning is in the area, we'll pause the tour and move away from exposed or high points until it passes. Your safety always comes first — we'd rather wait it out than rush through weather.
