FAQs
Do I need prior experience to rent a kayak or paddleboard at Bear Creek Lake?
Not at all! Our Lakewood kayak rental and paddleboarding options are beginner-friendly. You’ll receive a full safety briefing, paddle instruction, and tips for navigating the calm waters of Big Soda Lake, so you can enjoy your day on the water with confidence.
Can kids join the paddleboarding or kayaking experience?
Yes! Kids are welcome. Ages 2–5 must ride with a parent, ages 6–11 can paddle their own board or kayak with adult supervision, and ages 12–17 can paddle independently with a signed waiver. Our Lake Georgetown kayak rentals include appropriately sized paddles and life jackets for kids.
Is there a day of the week that's best for paddleboarding in Lakewood?
If you're considering renting a kayak or paddleboard in Lakewood, we highly recommend visiting midweek. Midweek rentals are more affordable, and you'll have a less-crowded, more tranquil experience on the lake.
Do I need to reserve in advance?
Yes, we highly recommend reserving in advance to ensure availability for your preferred watercraft. Additionally, prices are 10-20% more affordable online!
Do I need to pay a park entry fee at Bear Creek Lake Park?
Yes, please plan on a park entry fee of $10/vehicle. On weekends and holidays, park entry will be $15/vehicle (Memorial Day & Labor Day). Season passes are available at the gate!
Are there restrooms available?
Restrooms are conveniently located right next to our shop (because sometimes, nature calls before you hit the water!)
What if the weather is bad?
We totally get that weather can be unpredictable! If the conditions aren’t great, we’re happy to reschedule or hook you up with a raincheck to use anytime.
What kind of weather would cause a cancellation?
Safety is our top priority! A couple of quick rules: If there’s lightning nearby (or on the way) or if winds hit 15+ MPH, it’s a no-go.
Since Colorado’s weather changes fast, we do 30-minute weather holds and reassess after that. We’ll always keep you in the loop!
Are the rentals guided?
Our rentals are self guided. Our staff are always happy to answer any questions or give tips before you depart!
Can I bring my dog?
Yes! Pups are encouraged to join the adventure! Bring your four-legged first mate on any of our watercraft and let them enjoy the ride (just don’t let them steer!)
If they need a little extra safety, we’ve got dog lifejackets available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Cancellation Policy
