Take your paddleboarding experience to the next level with a private lesson tailored entirely to you. Whether you’re stepping onto a board for the very first time or looking to fine-tune your technique, having your own instructor means more time learning, more time paddling, and more time enjoying Maui’s beautiful coastline. The lesson moves at your pace, allowing you to focus on the skills and experiences that interest you most.

The adventure takes place inside a protected reef off Lahaina, where calm, clear water creates an ideal environment for learning and exploring. As you glide across the ocean, you'll work on balance, paddling technique, turning, and overall confidence on the board while taking in views of Maui’s coastline from a completely different perspective. The feeling of quietly cruising above the reef, watching fish move below and feeling the rhythm of the ocean beneath your board, is something many guests never forget.

For those who already have some paddleboarding experience, the lesson can become much more than just instruction. Explore sections of the reef or work on more advanced paddling techniques and wave skills. However you choose to spend your time on the water, this private experience offers the freedom to learn, explore, and enjoy Maui’s ocean at your own pace.

Lesson Levels

Beginner SUP Lessons

This basic class teaches footing, balance and paddling form. We will make you comfortable with the board and the water.

These lessons are perfect for people who have become accustomed to the board and are looking for a richer experience. 

We will take you out to the waves and teach you how to manage your board on them. Advanced turns, timing, and speed will all be addressed in these fun and challenging lessons. Please note in your reservations that you would like an 'Advanced Lesson'.

1. Lessons take place along the Lahaina coastline at beginner-friendly locations selected based on daily conditions!
   

Ages & Requirements

1. All ages are welcome!
   
2. Our policies state that any student that is 8 or under or an adult who isn’t confident in their swimming skills must book a private lesson for their safety. A private lesson does not ‘separate’ your child from the rest of the family. This option gives your child their own instructor who will stay with them in the water the entire time while you surf as a group. 
   
3. The outfitter does not publish an official weight limit, but most recreational stand-up paddleboards comfortably support approximately 250–300 lbs (113–136 kg).
   
4. No prior paddleboarding experience required!
   
5. Being a strong swimmer is not a must to take classes, but being able to tread water and feel confident in the ocean is important.
   

What's Included

1. 90-minute group SUP lesson with a certified instructor
   
2. Stand up paddleboard and paddle for the duration of the lesson
   
3. Instruction on footing, balance, and paddling form
   

Not Included

1. Gratuity - Never expected but if you have a great experience, please consider gifting 10-25% to your instructors!
