Group SUP Lesson — Lahaina, Maui!
Stand up paddleboarding is one of the best activities to share with family and friends, and this group SUP lesson delivers exactly that — a relaxed, guided paddle along one of Maui's most stunning stretches of coastline, with plenty of time to spot the island's incredible marine wildlife along the way.
Your lesson begins with a short land introduction covering the fundamentals: how to balance and stand on the board, paddling technique, and water safety. Then you head out onto the calm, clear waters of Lahaina's shoreline for a guided tour, led by your instructor at a comfortable pace that suits everyone in the group. The route follows the coast past colorful reef systems, and it's common to encounter green sea turtles (honu), tropical fish, sea cucumbers, starfish, colorful coral, and even the rare and endangered Hawaiian monk seal.
Group sizes are capped at five participants per instructor, keeping the experience intimate and ensuring your guide can give each paddler real attention throughout the session. Whether you're a complete beginner or just looking to polish your technique, this is a wonderful way to connect with Maui's ocean and its wildlife.

Ages & Requirements
- Minimum age: 10 years old for group lessons. Children 9 years and younger are required to book a private session.
- No prior SUP experience required — this lesson is designed for first-timers and beginners.
- Participants should be comfortable in the water. Swimming ability is not strictly required, though it is highly recommended.
- Group lessons must have two students minimum, and a maximum of five students. In the unlikely event of only one student confirmed into a group lesson, we will try to reschedule that student into another group lesson time slot, or the student can choose to pay an extra fee for a private class instead.

Yes. This school has been Hawaiian-owned and operated since 1998 and is one of the oldest surf schools on Maui.
Do I need prior experience to join the group SUP lesson?
No experience is needed. This lesson is designed for beginners and returning paddlers alike. Your instructor covers everything you need to know before you get on the water.
What wildlife might I see during the SUP tour?
The Lahaina coastline is teeming with marine life. Green sea turtles (honu), tropical fish, sea cucumbers, starfish, colorful coral, and the endangered Hawaiian monk seal are all possible sightings during your paddle. Keep your eyes open — you never know what's below!
How many people will be in my group?
A maximum of 5 students per instructor. Sessions require a minimum of 2 participants. If you're the only confirmed student, the team will offer to reschedule you or upgrade you to a private/semi-private lesson for an additional fee.
Is this appropriate for kids?
Yes — the minimum age for the group SUP session is 10 years old. Younger children (9 and under) are welcome in a private session.
How calm is the water for the group SUP lesson?
Lessons run along the calmer sections of Lahaina's coastline, making it well-suited for beginners and families. The pace is relaxed — you move as a group with the guide and take in the sights along the way.
What sunscreen can I use, and does it matter?
Reef-safe sunscreen is strongly encouraged. Common sunscreen ingredients like oxybenzone and octinoxate can harm coral reefs. Look for mineral-based sunscreens labeled "non-nano" and avoid products containing oxybenzone, octinoxate, or parabens. Wearing a long-sleeve rash guard (provided) is a great way to reduce sunscreen use altogether.
Cancellation Policy
Customers will receive a full refund with 48 hours notice of cancellation. Customers will also receive a full refund in case of operator cancellation due to weather and other unforeseen circumstances, such as medical or an emergency with presenting required documents. Contact us via phone or email to inquire about a cancellation/rescheduled reservation. No-shows will be charged the full amount of the scheduled reservation.
