Kayak Rental on Steamboat Lake
Push off right from the marina docks on Steamboat Lake, a high-alpine reservoir surrounded by mountains, including views toward Hahn's Peak and the Continental Divide. Choose a single kayak to paddle solo or a double kayak to share the ride with a partner.
The lake includes wakeless coves and inlets marked by buoys alongside open areas used for water-skiing and wake sports, so single and double kayaks give you an easy way to explore the calmer stretches of water close to the marina.

Do I need to book in advance?
Reservations are recommended, especially in peak summer months.
Is instruction provided?
Safety equipment is included with your rental, and your rental team will go over the marina's rental policies with you at pickup.
What happens if the weather turns bad?
No refunds are issued for lost time due to weather. If there's lightning within 5 miles of the marina, winds over 35 mph, or another condition staff considers unsafe, the marina won't release your boat from the dock, and may offer a prorated store credit (valid 1 year) at their discretion. No credit is given for light or intermittent rain or snow.
Is the marina open year-round?
No — Steamboat Lake State Park and the marina generally operate May 1 through November 1, weather permitting.
Where on the lake can I paddle?
Steamboat Lake has wakeless coves and inlets marked by buoys, as well as open water zoned for water-skiing and wake sports — your rental team can point you toward the calmer areas near the marina.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellation Guidelines:
- Full payment is required at the time of reservation.
- Any cancellation more than 10 days prior to reservation will receive a refund minus a rebooking fee of 25% plus any charges from the online reservation system.
- Any cancellation within 5 days of the reservation, a 50% rebooking fee applies plus any charges from the online reservation system.
- Any cancellation within 72 hours of the reservation, a 75% rebooking fee applies plus any charges from the online reservation system.
- A no-show or cancellation within 48 hours of the reservation will not receive a refund.
Inclement Weather Guidelines
- We do not issue refunds for any loss of time.
- We may offer a Store Credit (Rain Check) under certain circumstances.
- Any Store Credit issued must be used less than 1 year from issue and for a similar product i.e. boat rental credit for a boat rental.
- We do not issue Store Credit (Rain Check) for intermittent rain, snow or otherwise wet weather.
- If the winds are unsafe (35+mph sustained) or there is lightning, immediately proceed to the docks at the marina.
- Many times the storms move quickly through the valley and the conditions become pleasant after a storm passes.
- If the weather rains consistently for 30+ minutes or if conditions are physically unsafe, then a Store Credit may be offered.
