Description

Bring Your Skills, Grab Your Gear & Hit Oʻahu’s Water!

Just need the gear? Skip the hassle of flying with boards and kites and pick up quality equipment for your days on O'ahu's water. Rentals cover all of the island's classic wind and wave sports, so you can chase the trade winds one day and surf or paddle the next.

The rental lineup includes complete kiteboarding setups with kite, bar, board, and harness, as well as boards on their own (twin tip or surfboard style) for riders who bring their own kites. Surfboards, stand-up paddleboards, and windsurfing gear are also available, and kite foil equipment can be arranged on request. The team works exclusively with equipment companies known as industry leaders for quality and reputation.

Take your rental to the beach of your choice. Kailua Beach, one of O'ahu's most famous kiteboarding and windsurfing beaches, is open to independent riders, and if you're staying in Kailua, your gear can be dropped off and picked up right at your rental home. Book by the day, or grab a weekly rate on boards and settle in for a full week of sessions.

Duration

  1. Daily rentals are available for all equipment. You will receive the equipment anytime after 8 AM and return it by 5 PM.
  2. Weekly (7-day) rental rates are available for kiteboards, surfboards, and stand-up paddleboards. Receive board anytime after 8 AM on your first day, and return by 5 PM on your last day.
  3. Full kiteboarding setups and windsurfing equipment are rented by the day.

Location of Rental Pickup

  1. This is a mobile operation with no storefront. For independent riders staying in Kailua, gear can be dropped off and picked up at your Kailua residence, and you take it to the beach yourself. The team will coordinate hand-off details with you after booking in Kailua.
  2. Where to ride: Commercial lessons are banned at Kailua Beach Park, but independent riders are welcome to kiteboard, windsurf, surf, and paddleboard there on their own.

  1. All renters must know how to swim and be in good health for physical activity.
  2. Full kiteboarding equipment rentals require that you can ride upwind, as verified by the team.

Turtles, rays, sharks, seals, and dolphins are all protected species in Hawaii. You are not allowed to chase, harass, feed, or TOUCH any of the marine species. Please enjoy their company if they approach from a distance and calmly move away from them if in their path. Please also be respectful of the fact that coral is a living organism and any standing, touching, or knocking over will irreparably damage the organism that takes a very long time to grow and is essential to our marine reefs.

FAQs

What equipment can I rent?

We rent full kiteboarding setups (kite, bar, board, and harness), kiteboards on their own (twin tip or surfboard style), surfboards, stand-up paddleboards, and windsurfing equipment. Kite foil gear is available by inquiry.

Do I need experience to rent equipment?

Our rentals are for independent riders. To rent a full kiteboarding setup, you must be able to ride upwind, as verified by our team. If you're still learning, we recommend booking a lesson first.

Can I rent gear for multiple days?

Yes. All equipment is available by the day, and kiteboards, surfboards, and stand-up paddleboards also have a weekly (7-day) rate.

Do you deliver rental equipment?

If you're staying in Kailua, we're happy to drop off and pick up your rental equipment at your Kailua residence, and you can take it to the beach yourself.

Where can I ride with my rental?

Kailua Beach is open to independent riders for kiteboarding, windsurfing, surfing, and paddleboarding. The commercial ban at Kailua Beach Park applies only to businesses teaching lessons, not to riders out on their own.

Are lessons included with my rental?

No. This is an equipment-only rental. Lessons for every sport can be booked separately.

Can I rent a kiteboard if I bring my own kite?

Yes. Kiteboards are available on their own, and you can choose between a twin tip or a surfboard-style board.

Do I need to book in advance?

Yes. All lessons and rentals require an advance reservation and must be paid for ahead of time. We aren't able to accept payment on the beach.

Why don't you teach lessons at Kailua Beach?

There is currently a ban on commercial activity at Kailua Beach Park, which means no business can teach lessons there. Once you're riding independently, you're welcome to kiteboard, windsurf, surf, or paddleboard at Kailua on your own, and independent riders renting gear from us can have it dropped off and picked up at a Kailua residence.

Do I need to know how to swim?

Yes. For your safety, we require that every guest knows how to swim, regardless of the activity you choose. All guests must also be in good health for physical activity.

Do I need to sign a waiver?

Yes. Each participant must complete their own liability waiver, and anyone under 18 must have their waiver completed by a parent or legal guardian. We ask that you complete the waiver online before your lesson or rental. It only takes a moment and is mobile-friendly.

Are you involved in the local community?

Yes. We're a locally owned and operated family business committed to serving both our local community and visitors from around the world, and to protecting the natural environment that makes these sports possible. We're a member of the Kailua Chamber of Commerce and partner with Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Kailua Kiteboarders Club, a local group that sets safety guidelines and organizes events like beach cleanups.

What sunscreen should I use?

Please use only reef-safe sunscreen — common sunscreens contain chemicals like oxybenzone and octinoxate that harm coral reefs and are absorbed by marine organisms. Reef-safe and reef-SAFE sunscreens use non-nano mineral particles that are too large for corals to ingest. Look for products labeled non-nano and free of oxybenzone, octinoxate, and parabens. Sun-protective rash guards are an excellent alternative.
