Isla Verde Surfboard Rental

• Respect the Ocean: Please know your skill level and avoid areas with strong currents and big waves if you are a beginner!
• Understand the Local Breaks: Every surf spot is unique with waves breaking in different ways, potential hazards that are hidden from view (coral and rocks), and local surfing etiquette.
• Surf with a Buddy: It is always safer to have a friend to look after each other and assist in emergencies. 
• Stay Hydrated and Use Sunscreen: Please use reef-safe sunscreen that won’t damage the fragile ecosystems around Puerto Rico.

We only allow the rental boards to be used at Isla Verde Beach and you cannot take them with you.

Common sunscreens contain chemicals that can harm coral reefs, as the particles are small enough to be absorbed by corals, causing toxicity and coral bleaching. Reef-friendly sunscreens are formulated without these harmful chemicals. Reef-SAFE sunscreens go a step further by using non-nano particles, which are too large for corals to ingest, helping to preserve marine ecosystems. 

Please avoid sunscreens with oxybenzone, octinoxate, and parabens. Consider wearing sun-protective clothing, like long-sleeve rash guards, as an alternative to sunscreen. If you choose a mineral-based sunscreen, ensure it is labeled ‘non-nano.’
