Description

Scenic Bike Tour of Sonoma Valley - Perfect First Day in Sonoma

Not every great day in Sonoma needs a wine glass in it. The Intro to Sonoma Ride is a two-hour guided tour designed for guests who want to experience the valley's beauty, history, and quiet back roads without the winery stops — whether you're the designated driver, not a drinker, or simply want a morning ride before a day of other plans. Your guide leads a small group of no more than 10 guests along scenic country roads and vineyard corridors, sharing the valley's rich agricultural history and the vine-to-bottle traditions that have defined this landscape for generations.

The pace is genuinely casual — your guide pitches it to tourists, not cyclists — with frequent stops and a tone focused on enjoyment over mileage. Pedal-assist e-bikes are available, making the 7 to 10 miles (11–16 km) of mostly flat terrain effortless regardless of fitness level. When the tour wraps up around noon, you're welcome to keep your bike for the afternoon and venture out on your own — your guide will point you toward their favorite scenic back roads before you head out.

Duration

2 hours (10:00am to 12:00pm). Arrive by 9:45am for bike fitting and orientation.

  • Small bag or daypack for personal items
  • Camera or phone for photos — the vineyard scenery along the route is excellent

FAQs

Who is the Intro to Sonoma Ride designed for?

This tour is specifically designed for non-drinking guests — designated drivers, those who don't drink, guests who want a morning activity before other afternoon plans, or anyone who simply wants to enjoy the scenery and history of Sonoma Valley without winery stops. There are no tasting fees, no winery visits, and no wine — just a beautiful ride through one of California's oldest wine valleys.

Are there winery stops on this tour?

No — this tour has no winery visits. It's the only guided tour offered without winery stops. If you'd like to visit wineries as part of your ride, the Half-Day or Full-Day tours are the better fit.

How big is the group?

The Intro to Sonoma Ride is limited to a maximum of 10 guests, keeping the experience small and personal.

What roads will we ride on?

The tour follows quiet country back roads through Sonoma's vineyard corridors. Roads are lightly trafficked but open to cars; there are no dedicated bike lanes, though the roads are generally very quiet. Your guide sets a casual, unhurried pace with frequent stops for scenery, history, and questions.

Can I keep my bike as a rental after the tour?

Yes — if you'd like to keep riding after the tour concludes around 12:00pm, you can extend into an afternoon rental for a small additional fee ($15 for a regular bike, $35 for an e-bike). Bikes must be returned by 5:30pm. Ask your guide for recommendations before they head out — they always know the best scenic back roads to explore on your own.
