Description
Half-Day Pigeon Point Inflatable Kayaking Trip - Trinity River Whitewater Kayaking
Ready to paddle your own boat down one of California’s most scenic rivers? This half-day guided inflatable kayak adventure on the Upper Trinity River’s Pigeon Point section is perfect for anyone looking for a hands-on whitewater experience. Unlike rafting, you’ll be in your own inflatable kayak, navigating fun Class II–III rapids with the support of expert guides nearby. It’s the most popular stretch on the Trinity for good reason—with beautiful scenery, beginner-friendly rapids, and an unbeatable sense of freedom. With fewer stops and just a light snack, this half-day shorter option is perfect for those who are short on time but still want a fun and scenic river adventure.
You’ll take on exciting yet approachable whitewater, paddle through hidden pools and past sandy beaches. Along the way, enjoy gorgeous views, incredible wildlife sightings, and optional cliff jumps for those feeling bold. Midway, your guide will introduce you to “riverstyle” — a playful, skill-building way to experience the river. A light snack of chips and salsa (or hummus) and granola bars is included to keep your energy up for the fun ahead. And yes—Serendipity Snapshots will be there to catch your action shots as you tackle the big rapids!

FAQs
What is the difference between an inflatable kayak and a raft?
This is an inflatable kayaking trip. An inflatable kayak is a one- or two-person craft that you paddle yourself, while a raft is a larger boat guided by a professional, typically carrying 4–8 people. On our inflatable kayak trips, you’ll be in control of your own kayak, navigating the river under the guidance and support of a lead guide in a separate boat.
These trips are more active and hands-on than rafting—perfect if you’re looking for a fun personal challenge and want to be more immersed in the river experience. If you’re looking for a trip where a guide steers the boat and you just paddle along, you may want to check out our rafting options instead.
Can I bring my camera or other personal belongings on the trip?
The river has a way of taking items from us, so if it’s not tied down or secured, you could lose it. General rule: don’t bring anything you’d hate to lose. Don’t wear expensive jewelry, don’t bring your only pair of prescription glasses, don’t bring electronics, and we don’t recommend bringing your phone (it doesn’t work in our area anyways). There is a professional photographer on the run, but if you’d like to document the trip and have a GoPro, consider using one of our helmets with a GoPro mount. If you’d like to bring your phone or camera, we’ll supply you with a drybag.
Are pets allowed?
All our trips are pet friendly, as long as your doggo is gung ho about it! We recommend no higher than Class III for guests’ pooches.
What is the guide to guest ratio?
Our guide-to-guest ratio is typically 1:6.
What is your weather policy?
The only reason a trip would be outright canceled is for wildfires and air quality/safety issues. Rain is normal, and we have all the gear needed to keep people warm and cozy. We have canceled trips due to snow but always check in with guests to see how they’d like to proceed. Some folks are happy rafting in the snow, so it really depends on the guest!
Do you offer group discounts?
You’ll need at least two people in your group to book this trip during the summer months. Group rates do apply: Groups of 15+ people get a 10% discount; groups of 25+ get a 15% discount; groups of 35+ get a 20% discount; and groups of 50+ get a 25% discount.
Do you take photos of us?
Professional photography company Serendipity Snapshots, with 20+ years experience will take our pictures when we charge the big one! Photo package can be purchased in advance online. Photos can also be viewed & purchased in office the day of your trip, from Memorial Day Weekend-Labor Day Weekend.
What safety training do your guides have?
All of the guides at Six Rivers Rafting are thoroughly trained and have a river or swiftwater rescue cert, an advanced first aid cert (usually of the wilderness variety), and a CPR cert. Guides have also completed a guide training/school and have proved proficient on all sections of the river they are taking clients on. The experience level of our guide team ranges from well over 20 years to first-year rock stars. Our guides tend to come back and work for us for many years, providing a wealth of experience and stability to our operation. All of our guides are also knowledgeable when it comes to river ecology and the surrounding wildlife. They passionately share information about local species, landmarks, and conservation issues in a friendly and interesting way.
How do you manage your environmental impact?
We make many efforts to reduce our waste. Food is packaged in reusable containers and served with real plates and silverware. Reusable water bottles allow us to hydrate without creating waste. Leftover food is turned into compost. All other waste is either recycled or reused at the owner’s house. (Plastic Ziploc bags can be cleaned and used over and over!)
What kind of involvement do you have in the local community?
We are locally owned. As an active member in our community, we enjoy donating rafting gift certificates to local charities for their fundraising efforts. We love seeing our gift certificates generate income for the local Creekside Charter School and the Sequoia Park Zoo in Eureka! Plus, we get the added benefit of later enjoying the company of the gift certificate recipients!
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations must be made at least 72 hours in advance of your trip's departure date in order to guarantee a full refund. A cancellation within 72 hours of your trip date may result in a partial refund, depending on if we are able to rebook the seats that we held for you. If we are able to rebook, we happily do not charge. If we are unable to rebook, we unfortunately may have to collect a cancellation fee to cover our loss. If you fail to show up for your trip without contacting us in advance, you will be charged for the full amount. We understand that last minute things come up, and we are happy to reschedule a trip at no additional cost for anyone charged the full amount for a cancelled trip.
