Description

Big Island Waterfalls and Hilo Bay Kayak Tour

Join our knowledgeable and lifeguard certified guides as we explore the natural beauty and surprising history of Moku Ola (coconut island), along with the changes our dynamic landscape has made to Hilo town. We’ll mosey along serene rivers and explore hidden waterfalls, keeping an eye out for friendly honu (sea turtles) before heading back to shore.
For those seeking a more personalized experience or traveling with a group or family, private three hour guided kayak or SUP tours are available! These private tours provide you with deli-style lunch and refreshments, as well as an extra hour on the water!
Days and times are flexible, based on your expectations, with advance notice. This is an extremely weather-dependent adventure and it will be decided that day. The waterfall is not guaranteed – the river to the waterfall can be fast moving when there has been a lot of rain and therefore the guide would take you down a nearby slow-moving river.

FAQs

Are there any health, weight, or experience restrictions?

You must be at least 7 years old and all minors must be accompanied by an adult. You also must be able to lift at least 25 lbs (11 kg). Single kayaks can hold up to 350 lbs (159 kg) but doubles can go much higher, approximately around 600 lbs (272 kg).

What if I've never kayaked?

This is your chance to try it out with a professional and lifeguard certified guide to help you on the journey! If you'd feel more comfortable, we have a Private Historic Hilo Bay and Waterfalls by Kayak Tour!

Can I bring a camera?

You are welcome to bring a camera but it is your responsibility to ensure it is in a waterproof case. The company is not responsible for any damaged or lost items!

What if it rains?

This is a rain or shine tour as you will get wet anyway! If the weather is too bad, the entire tour will be canceled but it will not be canceled in the case of a bit of rain, clouds, or drizzle. The water fall is not guaranteed. If there has been a lot of recent rain, the river to the waterfall will be too fast moving and therefore the guide will bring you down a much calmer, nearby river.

Do we get to stop at Coconut Island?

This tour does not stop at the island. You will paddle under the bridge by it. If you’re interested in stopping and hanging out on the island, check out these kayak rentals with no transportation required!

Cancellation Policy

Guests must cancel tour no less than 48 hours before tour departure for a full refund.
