Description

Half-Day Bike Tour of Sonoma Wine Country

There's a reason this is the most popular tour on the calendar. The Half-Day Bike Tour covers the heart of Sonoma Valley on quiet country roads, with one winery visit, a stop at a local olive oil factory for a complimentary tasting, and a guide who knows this valley — its history, its producers, and the back roads most visitors never find. You're back by 1:00pm with the afternoon free to do whatever you like, and you keep your bike until 5:00pm at no extra charge if you want to keep riding.

The route is designed for touring, not training — 7 to 10 miles (11–16 km) of mostly flat terrain at a relaxed pace, with 2 to 5 miles (3–8 km) between stops. Pedal-assist e-bikes are available and make the whole thing genuinely effortless, leaving your energy for the wine and the conversation. Your guide is a local with a working knowledge of the valley's winemakers, geology, and the stories behind the vineyards you'll ride through — wineries visited tend toward the smaller, more characterful side of Sonoma, the kind that don't show up on mass-market itineraries.

FAQs

How many wineries will we visit on the Half-Day Tour?

The Half-Day Tour includes one winery visit. Your guide selects wineries with a focus on smaller, off-the-beaten-path producers in the Sonoma Valley — the kind of places you wouldn't necessarily find on your own. A stop at a local olive oil factory for a complimentary tasting is also included along the route.

Are tasting fees included?

No — wine tasting fees are not included in the tour price. Average tasting fees in Sonoma Valley run $30–45 per person per winery. Tastings are optional, can sometimes be shared, and fees are often waived with a minimum wine purchase. Your guide will let you know what to expect at each stop before you arrive.

How far will we ride?

You'll pedal an average of 2 to 5 miles (3–8 km) between stops, with a total tour distance of approximately 7 to 10 miles (11–16 km). The terrain is mostly flat to gently rolling, and the route is built around quiet, lightly trafficked country roads with beautiful vineyard views throughout.

Can I keep my bike after the tour?

Yes — one of the best perks of the Half-Day Tour is that you keep your bike at no extra charge until 5:00pm. Ask your guide for backroad and winery recommendations before the tour wraps up, then head out at your own pace. Bikes must be returned to the shop by 5:00pm.

Do I need to book in advance?

Yes — advance reservations are strongly recommended. The Half-Day Tour sells out on weekends, holidays, and most peak season days. Book ahead to secure your spot, especially during May–October.
