- Pick-up locations are only from the Condado and Isla Verde area of San Juan. You can select the pick-up location that works best for you at the time of booking.
- Pick-up will typically be at most 15 minutes before the tour starts, depending on where you're staying. Please be considerate of everyone's time so do not be late.
Ages & Requirements
- Age requirement: 6 to 65 years old (active seniors only).
- Children must be accompanied by an adult.
- Due to the nature of this excursion, Puerto Rico Tour Desk requires participants to be in good health and physical condition. Participants will be on uneven and slippery terrain and wade into moving water.
- Parts of the hikes may have some inclines and require good balance.
- Everybody should be aware of their own limitations; PLEASE DON’T PUSH YOURSELF – SAFETY FIRST!

What to Bring / Wear
- Sturdy Hiking Shoes - Broken in/Used before with closed toes and grippy tread! Hiking boots or slip-resistant sneakers are a must for El Yunque National Rainforest. Bring flip flops separately to let your feet breathe and stay dry after hiking.
- Comfortable Clothing - Make sure the clothing is moisture-wicking, lightweight, and fast drying! Lightweight, synthetic clothing or a swimsuit is best recommended for the activities. Avoid wearing jeans or sweats.
- Rain Protection & Dry Bags - A raincoat is necessary in “El Yunque Rainforest,” one of the wettest places on Earth with an average of 200 inches of rain every year.
- Bring towels, not just to dry yourself, but to keep your seat dry as a courtesy for people touring later in the day or the next day.
- Bring cash in case you see something you'd like to buy on the way.
- Sun Protection (Hats, Sunscreen, etc.) & Insect Repellent.
- Required Paperwork & ID Cards- Signed medical form if required, waivers, license, etc.

This adventure will go on rain or shine! We reserve the right to alter tour activity as required for everyone's safety.

We recommend that travelers are in generally good health with a moderate level of physical fitness, and comfortable walking on uneven terrain during the hike.

A minimum of 2 people per booking is required, with a maximum group size of 14 guests.

It is located in the Sierra de Luquillo mountains, approximately 25 miles east of San Juan.
What is the best time to visit El Yunque?
The rainforest is open year-round, but the best time to visit is during the dry season from December to April. However, being a rainforest, it can rain at any time of the year.
What is the weather like in El Yunque?
The climate is typically humid and tropical, with temperatures ranging from 70°F to 85°F (21°C to 29°C). Rainfall is common, especially in the afternoons.
What kind of wildlife can I expect to see?
El Yunque is home to various species, including the Puerto Rican parrot, coquí frogs, lizards, and a wide range of birds and insects.
Are there restrooms and facilities available?
Yes, there are restrooms and picnic areas at the El Portal Visitor Center and other designated spots within the forest.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations can be made up to 48 hours in advance for the tours. If the cancellation is made 24 hours prior to the tour, you will receive a 50% refund. Same day cancellations are not entitled to refunds. If you do not show up for the tour you will not be issued a refund.
