Guided Morning Maui Waterfall Hike to Two Waterfalls
Pricing
Ages 4 and up
Description
Two Waterfalls, One Easy Rainforest Adventure!
Start your morning deep in Maui’s Hoʻolawa Valley, where a short rainforest trail leads to not one, but two waterfalls with natural swimming pools. This easy guided adventure is perfect for anyone who wants to experience Maui beyond the beaches without taking on a long or strenuous hike. You'll walk approximately 1 mile (1.6 km) round trip, leaving plenty of time for the best part—swimming beneath the falls.
The trail follows a freshwater stream through a tropical forest of ferns, fruit trees, and island vegetation, crossing rocky sections and a small footbridge along the way. Before long, you'll reach the first waterfall, a roughly 10-foot (3 m) cascade spilling into a clear pool surrounded by greenery. Jump in for a swim, cool off beneath the falling water, or simply relax along the edge before continuing farther into the valley.
A little farther up the trail, an even larger 20-foot (6 m) waterfall awaits. Here you'll have more time to swim and float in the freshwater pool, and adventurous guests can try optional rock jumps when conditions allow. Your naturalist guide stays with you throughout the experience, helping with slippery sections, pointing out interesting plants, and sharing stories about the valley and the tropical fruits growing along the trail.
With an early start, you'll experience the valley in the softer morning light before the day gets busier. It's short enough to fit easily into a Maui itinerary but adventurous enough to deliver the waterfalls, rainforest trails, swimming holes, and cliff-jumping fun many travelers come to the island hoping to find.

ADVENTURE PROVIDED BY Hike Maui
FAQs
What if it rains?
We’ve found that a little rain adds to the adventure and complimentary ponchos are available if needed. Plus, swimming under a waterfall in the rain is an unforgettable experience. We do run our tours in most weather conditions but reserve the right to alter tour parameters if safety issues arise.
Will there be a bathroom on the trail?
There are toilets or porta potties at the trailhead for some hikes. But once we begin hiking, we head for the bushes when nature calls. If you’re uncomfortable with this arrangement, please let your guide know before the hike begins so you can both decide what’s best for you.
Do you provide hotel transfers?
Hotel transfers are offered on several of our tours, subject to availability. For an additional fee, we’ll pick you up at your hotel and return you after the tour. Transportation is available from all major resort hotels and condominiums, but not private residences or in towns outside of our service area. Our vans are PUC certified, commercially insured, serviced regularly for high performance, are air conditioned and are cleaned and disinfected after every tour.
Does your guide provide gear and food for the tour?
Your guide provides most of what you need for a comfortable day outdoors, including snacks (or lunch, depending on the tour), a backpack, a poncho in case of rain, insect repellent when needed, and hand sanitizer.
What makes the morning departure different from the afternoon one?
The morning walk gets you into the Hoʻolawa Valley before the day heats up and before later groups arrive, so the trail and waterfalls tend to feel quieter and the light through the trees is softer for photos.
How difficult is the hike, and are there physical requirements?
The walk covers about a mile round trip on a natural, sometimes uneven and slippery trail, with a short climb built in. It's manageable for most fitness levels, including kids, but participants should be steady on their feet without assistance.
Is transportation to the trailhead included?
Yes. Guests meet at the Kahului Park & Ride, and your guide drives the group to and from the Hoʻolawa Valley trailhead as part of the tour.
