FAQs
Are there any rapids?
There are no rapids or whitewater on this section of the river. Arrive prepared to relax.
Will the alligators be a problem?
Alligators are present in the park, but it is not a sure thing you will see one on the river. Alligators are shy creatures, so stick to basic wildlife safety and you'll be fine! A more pressing issue in the park is the water snakes.
Are pets allowed?
Congaree is again an oddity of federal lands, as it does in fact permit furry friends. Pets should wear their own life vest and be comfortable on the boats.
What if I’ve never gone kayaking?
This slow moving river is perfect to try for the first time! With a knowledgeable guide leading the way, you’ll be paddling circles in no time!

I am traveling solo to the National Park and am interested in the tour. Can I book for one person? When are you planning to take the trip?
Our tours require at least two people to be booked for the day and timeslot to take place. If you're traveling solo, we recommend booking two spots. Here's how it works:
- You can book two spots and check closer to your cancellation deadline (72 hours prior) to see if others have joined the tour.
- If others do book, we'll refund you for one spot, so you only pay for yourself.
- If no one else joins, you have the option to either keep your booking as a private tour or cancel for a full refund.
Our cancellation policy allows for a full refund or credit if you cancel with 72 hours' notice.
