Description
Full-Day Guided Rock Climbing Tour – Zion National Park Area
A full day on real desert sandstone is the kind of climbing experience that changes how people see the sport. When you're not watching the clock, when there's time to try a route more than once and actually feel it click, when the guide can take you from the basics of a figure-8 knot all the way to learning to belay your partner on a 100-foot wall — that's when climbing stops being an activity and starts being something you want to keep doing.
The Full-Day Guided Rock Climbing Tour is a flexible, private day on the rock near Zion, built for anyone from first-timers who want the full experience to those with gym climbing backgrounds who are ready to get outside. Your guide selects routes across the day based on your group's ability, adjusting difficulty and focus as you progress. Routes range from 40 to 100 feet (12–30 m), and the day's pacing allows for real skill development — not just enough time to say you've done it. Guides cover figure-8 tie-ins, belay technique, climbing safety protocol, and the nuances of moving on Navajo sandstone, while keeping the emphasis where it belongs: on the rock.
Tours are private only, meaning your group has the guide's undivided attention and the climbing area to yourselves. It's an ideal choice for those who want a comprehensive, unhurried introduction to outdoor climbing, or for groups who simply want as much time on the wall as possible during their Zion trip.

FAQs
Do I need climbing experience?
None at all. This tour is designed to work for complete beginners. Your guide covers everything from harness fitting to how to read the rock, and the routes are selected based on where your group is starting from. Many guests who've never climbed before leave having belayed each other on real routes — it moves faster than you'd expect.
What does "figure-8 tie-in" mean — will I actually learn to use the gear?
Yes. Guides go over the fundamentals of outdoor climbing throughout the day: how to tie in with a figure-8 follow-through knot, how the belay device works, how to communicate on the wall, and how to move safely on the rock. The day isn't heavily curriculum-based — most of it is spent climbing — but you'll leave with real foundational knowledge.
How high are the routes?
Routes range from approximately 40 to 100 feet (12–30 m) in height and vary in difficulty. Your guide selects routes appropriate for your group and can adjust difficulty up or down throughout the session depending on how the day is going.
Can I bring my own gear?
All necessary technical gear is provided. If you have your own climbing shoes, you're welcome to bring them. Let the guide know at pickup.
What is the difference between a half-day and full-day climbing tour?
The half-day covers a focused session on the rock — enough time to get comfortable, work through a few routes, and build real confidence. The full day goes further: more routes, more difficulty range, more time to develop technique, and a deeper sense of what climbing in the Southwest is all about. Both are excellent starting points; the right choice depends on your schedule and appetite for more.
How far in advance should I book?
Early reservations are strongly advised. Summer dates (June–August) fill 30–45 days in advance. Book early to secure your preferred date and start time.
Cancellation Policy
Full payment is due at the time of booking. Cancellations more than 3 days in advance will receive a full refund. Cancellations within 72 hours of trip start time are non-refundable. Weather conditions do not permit clients to cancel trips. If your Zion Adventures® guide determines conditions make the event unsafe, we will reschedule or make every effort to provide a comparable experience; if not possible, all purchases will be refunded in full.
