Description
Full Day Class II Whitewater Rafting on the Lower Trinity River
Spend a full day unwinding on the beautiful, free-flowing Trinity River with this scenic 8-mile rafting adventure. Ideal for families, first-time rafters, or anyone looking for a more laid-back river day, this mellow stretch of the Lower Trinity blends gentle Class II whitewater with stunning natural beauty and plenty of opportunities for exploration.
Just a 45-minute drive from the redwoods and California’s rugged North Coast, this trip feels like a true escape into nature. You’ll float through secluded river canyons framed by lush forests and dramatic rock walls, where wildlife sightings are common—keep an eye out for river otters, osprey, and bald eagles soaring overhead.
Throughout the day, you’ll have plenty of chances to swim in crystal-clear blue water, relax on sandy beaches, and even take a thrilling leap from a riverside cliff (optional, of course). The mild whitewater on this section adds just the right amount of excitement without being overwhelming, making it a great choice for younger kids, multi-generational groups, and anyone easing into whitewater adventures.
Your experienced guide will handle navigation and safety while also teaching you how to paddle and connect with the flow of the river. You’ll enjoy a delicious riverside lunch, take in the peaceful rhythm of “river time,” and finish your day feeling refreshed, recharged, and maybe just a little bit in love with the Trinity River.

FAQs
Can I bring my camera or other personal belongings on the trip?
The river has a way of taking items from us, so if it’s not tied down or secured, you could lose it. General rule: don’t bring anything you’d hate to lose. Don’t wear expensive jewelry, don’t bring your only pair of prescription glasses, don’t bring electronics, and we don’t recommend bringing your phone. If you’d like to document the trip and have a GoPro, consider using one of our helmets with a GoPro mount. If you really want to bring your phone or camera, we’ll supply you with a dry bag.
Are pets allowed?
All our trips are pet friendly, as long as your doggo is gung ho about it! We recommend no higher than Class III for guests’ pooches.
What is the guide-to-guest ratio?
Our guide-to-guest ratio is typically 1:6.
What is your weather policy?
The only reason a trip would be outright canceled is for wildfires and air quality/safety issues. Rain is normal, and we have all the gear needed to keep people warm and cozy. We have canceled trips due to snow but always check in with guests to see how they’d like to proceed. Some folks are happy rafting in the snow, so it really depends on the guest!
Are your guides certified?
All of the guides here at Six Rivers Rafting have a river or swiftwater rescue cert, an advanced first aid cert (usually of the wilderness variety), and a CPR cert. Guides also have completed a guide training/school and have proved proficient on any section of river they are taking clients on. The experience level of our guide team ranges from well over 20 years to first year rock stars. Our guides tend to come back and work for us for many years, providing a wealth of experience and stability to our operation. All of our guides are also knowledgeable when it comes to river ecology and the surrounding wildlife. They passionately share information about local species, landmarks, and conservation issues in a friendly and interesting way.
Is there a minimum number of guests?
You’ll need at least four people in your group to book this trip.
Do you offer group discounts?
Group rates do apply: groups of 15+ people get a 10% discount; groups of 25+ get a 15% discount; groups of 35+ get a 20% discount; and groups of 50+ get a 25% discount.
How do you manage your environmental impact?
We make many efforts to reduce our waste. Food is packaged in reusable containers and served with real plates and silverware. Reusable water bottles allow us to hydrate without creating waste. Leftover food is turned into compost. All other waste is either recycled or reused at the owner’s house. (Plastic Ziploc bags can be cleaned and used over and over!)
What kind of involvement do you have in the local community?
We are locally owned. As an active member in our community, we enjoy donating rafting gift certificates to local charities for their fundraising efforts. We love seeing our gift certificates generate income for the local Creekside Charter School and the Sequoia Park Zoo in Eureka! Plus, we get the added benefit of later enjoying the company of the gift certificate recipients!
Is the shuttle included?
Yes
Can we book a private trip?
Any of our trips can be private or joined with another group. If you’d like to book this as a private trip, it’ll cost $660 for up to 6 people.
