Description

Private Full-Day Family Rock Climbing Tour – Guided Climbing for Kids 5 & Up

A full day of rock climbing with your family is one of those experiences that's genuinely hard to replicate anywhere else. Not because of the views, though those are remarkable. Not because of the technical achievement, though that's real too. It's because climbing together — cheering for the kid who's scared and then does it anyway, watching a parent surprise themselves at how high they'll go, figuring out the route as a team — creates a specific kind of shared experience that travel rarely delivers.

The Full-Day Family Rock Climbing Tour gives your family a complete, unhurried day on real desert sandstone, guided by someone who specializes in making this work for families with kids as young as 5. Routes are chosen around the ages and abilities of your children and adjusted throughout the day as confidence builds. There's room to try harder routes, to learn to belay each other, to take a break, eat lunch on the rock, and go again. No prior experience is needed for anyone — guides provide full instruction from the basics through progressively more challenging movement, delivered at the pace your family actually needs.

This is the right choice for families who want more than a taste — who want to really climb together, build real skills, and leave with a full day's worth of moments to look back on. All family tours are private. The guide's full attention is on your family from start to finish.

FAQs

How young is too young for rock climbing?

The minimum age is 5, and guides have worked successfully with children across that full range. That said, the experience is most meaningful for kids who are genuinely curious and physically capable of gripping, stepping, and pulling their way up a route — which most active 5-year-olds absolutely can be. Guides adapt to the individual child, not just the group average.

Do kids need any climbing experience?

No experience is needed for anyone in the group — kids or adults. Guides introduce everything from scratch in a way that makes sense for younger participants.

What's the difference between the half-day and full-day family climbing tour?

The half-day covers a focused climbing session — enough for kids to get comfortable on the rock, work through a few routes, and leave with real excitement and confidence. The full-day gives more time for skill building, more routes, and a bigger sense of accomplishment. The right choice depends on your kids' ages, stamina, and how big a day you're looking for.

How far in advance should I book?

Early reservations are strongly advised. Summer dates (June–August) fill 30–45 days in advance. Book early to secure your preferred date and start time.

Is a full day realstic for young kids?

It depends on your kids. Eight hours is a meaningful commitment, and the best families for this tour are those with children who are energetic, genuinely excited about the activity, and physically capable of staying active for a long stretch. Guides pace the day around the group and build in breaks, but younger or more easily tired kids may have a better experience on the half-day.

Cancellation Policy

Full payment is due at the time of booking. Cancellations more than 3 days in advance will receive a full refund. Cancellations within 72 hours of trip start time are non-refundable. Weather conditions do not permit clients to cancel trips. If your Zion Adventures® guide determines conditions make the event unsafe, we will reschedule or make every effort to provide a comparable experience; if not possible, all purchases will be refunded in full.
