Description
Take the Whole Day & Make Kapalua Your Playground!
Turn Kapalua into a full-day adventure with an e-bike and the freedom to explore at your own pace. After choosing an e-bike suited to your size and riding style, you'll get an orientation, scenic map, and personalized route-planning help before heading north along West Maui. With electric pedal assist helping on the hills and an entire day ahead of you, there’s no need to race from one attraction to the next—stop when something catches your eye and stay as long as you’d like.
Explore beaches like D.T. Fleming Beach Park and Oneloa Bay, cruise through the Kapalua resort area, or lock your bike and walk out to Dragon’s Teeth at Makaluapuna Point, where jagged lava formations meet the Pacific. You can also park the e-bike and explore portions of the Kapalua Coastal Trail or Village Walking Trail on foot, stop for lunch, take photos around Kapalua Bay, or continue farther north toward Honolua Bay. With the full day available, you can mix riding with plenty of time actually enjoying the places you discover.
This experience is completely self-guided, so there’s no group itinerary deciding when it's time to move on. Spend the morning riding, take a long lunch break, explore a beach, walk a coastal trail, or simply find a beautiful viewpoint and stay awhile. It’s less about covering as many miles as possible and more about having an e-bike available for a full day of exploring Kapalua and Northwest Maui your way.

FAQs
Can I ride my e-bike on the Kapalua Coastal Trail?
No. The Kapalua Coastal Trail is a walking trail and bikes should not be ridden on it. If you'd like to explore part of the trail, find an appropriate place to park your e-bike, securely lock the bike and battery to a stationary object, and continue on foot. It's a great opportunity to add a short coastal walk and photo stop to your e-bike adventure.
What can I see and explore on the full-day Kapalua e-bike adventure?
With a full day, you have the freedom to combine riding with beaches, sightseeing, walking trails, photography, and food stops throughout Kapalua. Depending on the route you choose, highlights can include Dragon’s Teeth at Makaluapuna Point, D.T. Fleming Beach Park, Oneloa Bay, Kapalua Bay, Kapalua Resort, Kapalua Plantation Course, Honolua Store, The Ritz-Carlton Kapalua, Montage Kapalua Bay, and Honolua Bay.
The extra time also makes it easier to lock up your e-bike and explore the Kapalua Coastal Trail and Village Walking Trail on foot. Stop for photos, enjoy a meal, spend some time at the beach, or simply take the longer route when something looks interesting. Because the adventure is self-guided, these are suggested highlights rather than required stops—you decide where your full day takes you.
What rules should I follow while riding my e-bike in Maui?
E-bikes follow the same basic rules of the road as bicycles. Ride on the right side of the road in the same direction as traffic, obey traffic lights, signs, and lane markings, and use hand signals when turning or stopping. When riding with others, travel single file rather than side-by-side.
Stay off sidewalks, golf course paths, and anywhere marked “No Bikes.” If you'll be riding around dusk or after dark, make sure your bike lights are turned on so you're easier for drivers and other road users to see.
Do I need previous e-bike experience?
No previous e-bike experience is required, but you do need to already know how to ride a bicycle confidently. Riders should be comfortable balancing, pedaling, braking, mounting and dismounting, and making controlled turns. Before you set off, you'll receive an orientation covering the e-bike controls and pedal-assist system so you can get comfortable with how everything works.
What is E-Bike Rescue, and what does it cover?
E-Bike Rescue is optional coverage that can be added before your ride for $10. It covers assistance for flat tires and electronic failures within a 7.5-mile (12 km) radius in West Maui.
Coverage does not extend north of Honolua Bay or south of Olowalu. Assistance outside the covered area may still be available for an additional fee based on distance. Running out of battery outside the West Maui boundaries is also not covered. If you'd like E-Bike Rescue, make sure to add it before beginning your ride.
How long does an e-bike battery last?
Battery range varies based on the bike, rider weight, terrain, gearing, and how much pedal assist you use. Typically, standard e-bikes can travel approximately 12–30 miles (19–48 km) per charge, while premium e-bikes may reach approximately 30–60 miles (48–97 km).
To conserve battery, use lower levels of pedal assist when you don't need the extra power and shift into an appropriate lower gear when climbing hills. If the battery does run out, you can still pedal and shift gears like a regular bicycle.
