Description

Spend the Day Exploring Icacos - Part of La Cordillera Nature Reserve!

Set out on a full-day journey to the stunning Icacos Island, where your day in paradise begins with a scenic cruise from Marina Puerto Del Rey. As we sail along the beautiful Fajardo coastline, you’ll enjoy views of El Yunque’s lush mountains and the surrounding islets. After about an hour, we’ll reach the pristine shores of Icacos, where you can relax, swim, and take in the island’s clear blue waters before the main event—an incredible snorkeling adventure.
Following a tasty on-board lunch of wraps, fresh fruit, our signature pasta salad, and more, we’ll head to a tropical reef site that’s perfect for all snorkeling skill levels. Here, you’ll dive into a world filled with tropical fish like parrotfish, angelfish, and blue tangs swimming among colorful coral formations. Keep your eyes open for sea turtles, stingrays, and other unique marine life that call this reef home. Our glass bottom windows offer a peek into the reef for those who prefer to view from above, and the catamaran’s water slide makes an exciting break from snorkeling!
After spending ample time exploring the reef, we’ll begin our relaxed sail back to the marina. This full-day trip to Icacos offers not just a chance to unwind, but an up-close look at the spectacular underwater world that makes Puerto Rico a snorkeling paradise.

FAQs

Do I need to know how to swim or snorkel?

You need to know basic swimming skills, know how to float, and, as long as you don’t fear the water, you’ll have fun! We do have floating devices available for all guests and underwater windows (on the East Wind) for those who choose not to snorkel.

How do I snorkel if I use eyeglasses?

You may bring a prescription mask or purchase one at our East Island Store upon arrival, subject to availability. Contact lenses can be worn under a mask only if you feel comfortable doing so.

What about sharks?

Incidents of sharks biting people in Puerto Rico are very rare. Fatal shark bites are extremely rare, especially considering the number of people in Puerto Rico’s waters. People who enter the water need to recognize that there are hidden dangers. A number of marine animals can cause serious injury to people, and sharks are just one example. Entering the ocean should be considered a “wilderness experience,” where people are visitors in a world that belongs to the sharks. The risk of injury caused by sharks is extremely small, but it is a risk accepted by anyone who enters the shark’s world. By learning more about sharks, using common sense, and observing the following safety tips, the risk may be greatly reduced.

Can you go underwater with a snorkel? What if I want to get close to things?

Although many snorkelers dive underwater, I have found that some people would rather not, or don’t find the need to do so. If you see a fish several feet below you though, and you want to get a closer look, you’ll have to dive down. By doing this, your snorkel will fill up with water, and you will not be able to breathe until you clear the passage of your snorkel of water once you have resurfaced. It sounds a bit iffy, but it’s a common thing for more experienced snorkelers to dive down and fill their snorkel with water.

To clear the snorkel of water, you must resurface, give a good strong blow of the snorkel as your head reaches the surface once again, and the top of the snorkel has penetrated the surface of the water. This should clear most if not all of the water that has filled the snorkel and allow you to breathe normally through the snorkel once again. If you use what is called a “purge” snorkel, (which I would recommend), you will rarely get water back in your mouth. I would also recommend trying this technique first in a pool.

Once you get comfortable doing this as well as the other techniques mentioned, you will feel more confident and will have a more positive, relaxed experience out on the reef.

Cancellation Policy

CANCELLATIONS or rescheduling AND THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING ON TIME:

**Cancellations must be 48 hours prior to the scheduled excursion to avoid full charges and or penalties.

We’re excited to offer Trip Protection! For a small additional fee, you can add Trip Protection to any non-private booking, giving you the flexibility to cancel up to 1 hour before departure. Simply select Trip Protection at checkout for added peace of mind.

**Private charter cancellation is 14 days prior to the charter date. If the charter is canceled outside the cancellation policy the deposit is not refundable or a partial refund will apply.

**If you miss your excursions: arriving late or NOT showing up on the date of excursion, NO refund will apply. The fee is NOT refundable and NOT reusable.

**WEATHER RELATED CANCELLATIONS weather determinations are made by our captains & if we need to cancel an excursion due to weather you will be refunded or rescheduled to another date at no charge (only qualifies for original reservations). We will call, text, or send you an email to notify you as soon as possible, however, please note that due to the unpredictable weather in the Caribbean, on rare occasions cancellations may be done at the marina or rerouted to another destination. We watch the weather on an hourly basis, and in the tropics, the weather is often locally specific. Weather in San Juan is often different than on the east coast and islands, so please do not make the mistake of deciding not to arrive on your excursion because you think the weather might not be acceptable, as you will be charged as a no-show if the excursion goes out.

If you have a question about the weather conditions feel free to contact us at (787) 860-3434 or (787) 409-2485.
