Description

Inflatable Kayaking & River Boarding on the Flathead River

Experience the ultimate adrenaline rush with Inflatable Kayaking and River Boarding, guided on the same river sections as whitewater rafting trips. These trips are designed for thrill-seekers and combine the excitement of running rapids with expert safety support. Inflatable kayaks can be paddled solo or tandem, while river boarding puts you directly in the water navigating rapids with your board and fins. Both trips are guided from safety rafts or companion vessels to ensure a fun but secure adventure.
These trips take place on pristine, protected native waters, offering 8 miles of river, four Class III rapids, and “drop-pool” sections where you can float, swim, and play between rapids. Wetsuits are required for river boarding, and helmets are mandatory for both activities, keeping safety front and center while you push your limits.
Ideal for experienced water adventurers or anyone looking to take whitewater thrills to the next level, these trips are a high-energy way to explore Montana’s rivers.

FAQs

Is this trip good for first-time whitewater participants?

Inflatable kayaking can be suitable for beginners if you are comfortable with swimming and want an active, hands-on experience. River boarding is more advanced and best for those who are confident in moving water. Both trips include guided safety support.

What’s the difference between inflatable kayaking and river boarding?

Inflatable kayaking involves sitting in a small, maneuverable kayak—solo or tandem—and paddling through rapids. River boarding puts you directly in the water on a board with fins and a wetsuit, allowing you to “ride” the rapids face-first. Kayaking is more controlled, river boarding is more immersive and physically demanding.

How intense is this experience?

Both trips run on a river section with four Class III rapids and “drop pool” sections. You will have active paddling or swimming, but there are calm stretches between rapids to recover. It’s an adrenaline-filled trip best suited for those looking for a high-energy adventure.
