Description

Fat Tire Mountain Bike Rentals in Truckee

Get out and explore Truckee’s snow-covered trails on a fat bike. With oversized tires built for traction and stability, fat bikes provide float and stability on snowy trails, opening up a whole new way to experience Truckee’s winter beauty. These Fat-tire mountain bikes are perfect for exploring the forest and mountains of Truckee.  Our Fat Tire bikes take the engineering of a good solid mountain bike and add 4.0" tires where they get traction to ride in snow, mud, and sand.
We’ll set you up with a high-quality fat bike, a helmet, and tips on the best trails to ride, so you can spend more time out in the snow and less time figuring out where to go.

FAQs

Where do you recommend Fat Biking in Truckee?

We recommend checking out:

  • 06 Forest Service Road-Sawtooth Trail - The 06 Forest Service road is a Fire Road that travels up and over Mount Watson and eventually drops into Tahoe City.  Along the road are single-track trails, most notably the Sawtooth trail. It's located about 1.5 miles from downtown Truckee. Access is via Palisades Drive to Silver Fir, then right on Silver Fir, left on Thelin, with the 06 road on the right. Note: Parking on neighborhood streets is prohibited from November to May.
  • Emmigrant Trail - A classic single-track trail north of Truckee, the Emigrant Trail meanders through meadows and forests for 8 miles to Stampede Reservoir, offering a mix of open views and wooded areas. To reach the trailhead, take Highway 89 north toward Sierraville for about 4 miles, turn right on Hobart Mills Road, and find the parking area immediately to the right.
  • Donner Lake Rim Trail - This scenic single-track provides stunning views, climbing up the south side of Tahoe Donner and connecting to trails like Johnson Canyon and the Tahoe Donner Glacier Way trailhead. It's easily accessible from downtown Truckee.
