Description

Colorado River Family Rafting, Kayaking & SUP Experience

Make your Colorado River adventure unforgettable with this one-of-a-kind guided trip, designed for families and groups of all abilities! With five different vessel options to choose from—raft, stand-up paddleboard (SUP), single-person duckie, tandem duckie, or even a mix of them all—this 2.5-hour whitewater experience lets you customize the excitement to fit your group’s comfort level. Want to mix it up? Swap crafts throughout the trip and try them all!
Whether you're looking for a laid-back float or an active paddling challenge, this trip is built for fun. Parents can hop on a SUP while the kids tackle the rapids in a duckie. Little ones under seven can ride tandem with a guide, and grandparents can enjoy the scenery from the stability of a raft. No matter your preference, there’s a perfect vessel for everyone!

Choose Your Craft:

  • Raft – Perfect for those who want a social, stable, and relaxing ride. Ideal for young kids, grandparents, or anyone who prefers to kick back and enjoy the scenery while the guide navigates.
  • Stand-Up Paddleboard (SUP) – A great option for adventurous paddlers looking for a fun challenge! Best for those with good balance and a willingness to get wet.
  • Single Duckie (Inflatable Kayak) – For independent paddlers who want a mix of control and excitement. A great step up from rafting for those who want more action.
  • Tandem Duckie – Ideal for pairs who want to paddle together, whether it’s a parent and child, siblings, or friends teaming up for a fun ride. Adventurous little ones can hop in with a guide.
  • Mix & Match – Swap between crafts during the trip! Try a SUP for a while, then hop in a raft or duckie for a different perspective.
The Family River Adventure is the perfect outing for the family or group. You can make it as challenging and exhilarating as you want, or as leisurely and relaxing as you want. As one of the pioneers of SUP river outfitting in Colorado, we’re experts at turning the river into an inclusive playground for all ages. Our guides ensure an incredible river experience—so you can relax, enjoy the ride, and walk away with incredible stories, photos, and well-earned bragging rights.

FAQs

Should I bring the kids?

Yes! SUP is more about size than age. We have had 7 and 8-year-olds successfully navigate the river section on their own. For inclusion, we offer a variety of options that kids as young as 5 have loved. Riding tandem with a guide on one of our larger boards is a thrilling and super fun way for them to be along for the ride and still feel the sensation of the river. Our one-of-a-kind river hub provides a nice grassy lawn that touches the Colorado River and we have shade structures there as well. If someone in the group does not want to participate, but still wants to spend a day outside, we would be more than happy to have them join us at our base camp.

Are dogs allowed?

Unfortunately not, please leave the pets at home as there is not place to leave the animals. Cars get extremely hot out here in the blazing Colorado sun.

Will I get wet?

SUP, yes! Rafting, that depends, you can usually stay pretty dry on these tame rapids unless your group wants to get doused, just tell the guide so!

Is there nearby camping or lodging?

Wonderful riverside camping is available all around our SUP CO Dome at Rancho Del Rio. Pay at the general store when you arrive on site, costs are $3 per day per person, $5 if you want the free shuttle to State Bridge (4 miles). Rancho del Rio also has a few cabins for rent.

State Bridge offers beautifully remodeled cabins, rustic yurts and teepees for rent.

Will I see wildlife?

Very likely, numerous bald eagles and hawks soar overhead, while beaver and fish travel along side. An abundance of deer, elk, and bear make this a hunter’s paradise in the fall.

Is there food nearby?

Not really on the week days. The Rancho Del Rio general store offers drinks and snacks but not a hearty meal. On the weekends, KK’S Center of the Universe opens and her one of a kind culinary flare is something worthy of its own show.

Can I bring alcohol?

No, not before your trip on the water. If you wanted to enjoy some cold suds after the trip, be our guest. Be thoughtful, intelligent and considerate. We will not tolerate any drunkenness around our hubs, especially during business hours. If a guide smells alcohol on you or someone in your group and deems you unfit to go down the river or on the lake, you will be scratched from the tour and no refund will be given to you.

What if the weather is bad?

Stand Up Paddle Colorado is open rain or shine. There are no refunds in the event of rain, fog, wind, cloudy skies, or drastic temperatures. In the event of severe weather and at the discretion of the staff, Stand Up Paddle Board reserves the right to cancel reservations.
