Description

FREE Guided Hikes with a Naturalist – San Juan Mountains (Summer Fridays)

Join the San Juan Mountains Association for a free, naturalist-led hike through the stunning high country of Southwest Colorado! These laid-back morning hikes are the perfect way to get the beta on local flora, fauna, geology, and ecology – all while exploring some of the region’s most scenic lakeside trails.

Every Friday from June through August, SJMA offers this fun, fact-filled moderate nature hike. In June, the adventure happens at Haviland Lake, just a short drive north of Durango. Come July through August, the hikes move higher into the alpine at Andrews Lake, nestled near Molas Pass with epic views of the San Juan peaks.

This is the kind of experience that deepens your connection with the land and gives you those “ah-ha” moments about the environment around you. Perfect for families, beginners, and anyone curious about nature. No gnarly trails – just solid vibes, wildflowers, and mountain air.

Difficulty: Easy (1-2 mile hike) Beginner Friendly: Absolutely – all levels welcome!
