Description
Emerald Cut Kayak Adventure - Eco-Adventure Paddle near Orlando
The Emerald Cut Kayak Adventure is a three-hour paddle along the clear, emerald-green waters of Rock Springs Run near Apopka, Florida. This section of the river flows through sand pine scrub, pine flatwoods, and lush vegetation, providing a natural habitat for turtles, alligators, river otters, deer, and a variety of bird species. The vivid color and clarity of the water make it a distinctive and memorable paddling experience.
The tour begins with an upstream paddle through the river’s bends, under low-hanging trees, and around natural obstacles. At Kelle Park, you’ll have the opportunity to stop, swim, or relax in the emerald water before returning downstream with the current. Along the way, your guide shares information about the river’s ecology and the cultural history of the surrounding area.
This tour is suitable for paddlers of all experience levels. Sit-on-top kayaks, life jackets, bottled water, and a snack are provided. The focus is on enjoying the natural setting, observing wildlife, and experiencing the clarity and color of the water firsthand, making it a unique outdoor adventure in Central Florida.

FAQs
Is it safe with alligators around?
Safety is our top priority. While alligators are part of the natural environment, our experienced guides are trained to maintain a safe distance throughout the tour.
I've never kayaked before. Is that okay?
Absolutely! Our tours are beginner-friendly, and our guides will provide all necessary instructions to make you feel comfortable on the water.
What if the weather is bad?
We run tours rain or shine – though we’ll reschedule the tour in the event of unsafe or extreme weather. Florida’s weather can change quickly, and rainstorms often pass in a short time. In many cases, a brief wait is all that’s needed before continuing the tour.
Do I need to be in great shape?
Not at all! Our tours are designed for people of average fitness levels. If you’re worried about paddling, we can pair you in a tandem kayak with a partner who can help.
Do I need to wear a life jacket?
Yes, for your safety, life jackets are required by law. We provide comfortable Type III life jackets designed for ease of movement so you can paddle comfortably!
Will I get wet?
You might! Kayaking is a water activity, so expect a little splash, but you won't be fully submerged unless you choose to swim or tip over (which is rare).
Are there restroom facilities?
There are restrooms at Kings Landing Campground, where our launch site is.
Can I bring a camera?
Absolutely! A waterproof case or dry bag is a great idea to keep it safe.
Should I tip my guides?
We’re often asked if it’s appropriate to tip your tour guides and what a reasonable amount might be. While we’ve considered building gratuities into the tour cost, we believe that recognizing great service should always be a personal choice. If you feel your guide(s) provided an exceptional experience, gratuities are absolutely encouraged—and appreciated—at the end of the trip. A typical tip is 15–20% of your ticket price — about $12–$14 per guest — and it’s shared among the guides who led your trip.
Do you follow ethical wildlife practices?
Yes! We are proud to be Guardian Guides, certified by the Save the Manatee Club, recognizing our commitment to responsible wildlife viewing. We follow strict no-touch policies, keep a respectful distance from manatees and other wildlife, and educate our guests on ethical nature interactions to help protect Florida’s delicate ecosystems.
Do I have to purchase tickets in advance?
Yes, we recommend booking ahead, as tours fill up quickly! Same-day bookings are subject to availability.
