Description

Premium Electric Bike Rental — Explore Dallas's Santa Fe Trail & White Rock Lake

The shop sits directly on the Santa Fe Trail in the heart of Deep Ellum — one of Dallas's most vibrant and historic neighborhoods — with the city's most scenic bike trail running from the front door all the way to White Rock Lake. Roll out of the shop, follow the 4.3-mile (6.9 km) paved trail through East Dallas neighborhoods, and arrive at one of the largest urban lakes in the country, where a 9.5-mile (15.3 km) lakeside loop awaits. It's the city's most satisfying outdoor escape, right from the heart of one of its most energetic neighborhoods.

The Santa Fe Trail follows a former railroad right-of-way through some of Dallas's most historically rich streets — passing through the Mount Auburn and Hollywood/Santa Monica neighborhoods, touching four local parks along the way, and connecting the creative energy of Deep Ellum and Fair Park to the natural beauty of White Rock Lake's western shore. The e-bike makes the distance effortless in either direction, and every rental comes with a helmet, lock, and a thorough orientation before you roll out.

FAQs

What is the Santa Fe Trail and where does it go?

The Santa Fe Trail is a 4.3-mile (6.9 km) paved, 12-foot-wide trail that follows a former Santa Fe railroad right-of-way through East Dallas. It connects Deep Ellum, Fair Park, and downtown Dallas at its southern end to the western shore of White Rock Lake at its northern end, passing through the historic Mount Auburn and Hollywood/Santa Monica neighborhoods along the way. The shop sits directly on the trail at Main Street, making it one of the most convenient trail access points in the city.

How long does it take to ride to White Rock Lake?

At a comfortable e-bike pace, most riders reach the lake in about 20–30 minutes from the shop. The trail is flat and straightforward. White Rock Lake is then approximately a 9.5-mile (15.3 km) loop around its perimeter — plan on 45–75 minutes for the full loop at a relaxed pace with stops.

What can I see and do at White Rock Lake?

White Rock Lake is one of Dallas's most beloved outdoor destinations. The 9.5-mile (15.3 km) trail circling the lake passes sailboats and kayaks on the water, a dog park on the northeast shore, beautiful homes including a replica of Mount Vernon on the east bank, and the spillway and dam wall on the southeast. The trail also connects to the Dallas Arboretum on the eastern shore, the White Rock Lake marina on the western edge, and the Santa Fe Trail back to Deep Ellum. Restrooms and picnic areas are spread throughout the lake area.

How far can I ride in each duration?

As a general guide based on comfortable e-bike pace with stops:

  • 1 hour — Stay in Deep Ellum and the southern Santa Fe Trail section; explore the neighborhoods around the shop
  • 2 hours — Ride north on the Santa Fe Trail toward the lake and return; reach the lake perimeter
  • 3 hours — Reach White Rock Lake and explore a portion of the lake loop before returning
  • 4–5 hours — Complete the Santa Fe Trail run and a full White Rock Lake loop with relaxed stops
  • 6 hours — Full trail run, full lake loop, with time for a stop at The Lot or a lakeside break
  • Full Day (7 hours) — Cover everything at an unhurried pace; connect to additional trail segments including the SoPac Trail

Are there restrooms along the route?

Yes — restrooms are available at multiple points around White Rock Lake. Confirm restroom availability at the shop before heading out.

Is the Santa Fe Trail paved?

Yes — the Santa Fe Trail is a 12-foot-wide concrete and asphalt surface throughout. It is flat, well-maintained, and designed for cyclists, walkers, and runners.

Are e-bikes allowed on the Santa Fe Trail and White Rock Lake loop?

Yes — Class 1 and Class 2 e-bikes are permitted on the Santa Fe Trail and the White Rock Lake trail loop.
