Description

Door County SUP 101 Class at Sister Bay Beach

SUP 101 is a one-hour introductory stand-up paddleboarding class held at Sister Bay Beach, one of Door County’s most approachable and scenic places to learn. Designed for first-time paddlers, this class focuses on building real, usable skills so you feel confident getting on the water safely and efficiently.

With guidance from an experienced instructor, you’ll learn essential paddle strokes, correct hand and body positioning, and how to safely launch and land your board from the beach. Instruction also covers leash use, balance, and both assisted and unassisted deep-water re-entry. The class progresses through paddleboarding stances in sequence—starting from kneeling, moving to a neutral stance, and finishing with a surf stance—allowing you to advance at a comfortable pace.

This class is a great starting point if you’re new to paddleboarding and want a clear understanding of the fundamentals before exploring Door County’s shoreline on your own.

Please note that our shop is in Jacksonport. Although it is a Sturgeon Bay mailing address, we are located about 20 miles north of Sturgeon Bay on the lake side of the highway.

Ages 4+ (we recommend that children under 10 and under ride on a board with an adult)
Minimum weight limit: 40 lbs
Maximum is 250 lbs

FAQs

When should I arrive?

You will want to arrive at least 20 minutes prior to your trip starting. Allow for time to use the restroom, sign the waiver, get fitted for your life jacket and get some water.

Is stand-up paddleboarding challenging?

It’s beginner-friendly but engaging. You’ll get a little workout as you balance, paddle, and explore the bay, all while surrounded by beautiful scenery. Many guests are surprised at how quickly they gain confidence.

Cancellation Policy

Full refunds will be given for cancellation at least 24 hours prior to departure or due to inclement weather. Cancellations within 24 hours of scheduled tour time will be not be refunded.
