Duration of Adventure
- 2 Hours
Location / Where to Meet
- Check in/ Departure Address: 101 W Miracle Strip Parkway, Mary Ester FL 32569
- Guests must arrive 15 minutes before departure time to check in and participate in a mandatory kayak and boating safety lesson!
- During peak season, March to September, traffic in the Destin/Ft. Walton Beach area can significantly slow down. Please leave ample time to make it to our launch 15 minutes before the start of the tour. We cannot hold the tour for late arrivals.
- Native’s Cove is under construction, so please pardon the dust. A local artist is painting a mural on the building and seawall, so it is easy to spot! Please park on top of the Native’s Cove lot and look for the steps at the back of the parking lot. Our launch is located to the right of the stairs. Be sure to visit the food trucks before or after your tour!
Ages & Requirements
- Minimum age of 5 years old.
- One adult must attend for every child aged 14 and under. Children under 15 cannot paddle without an adult. We recommend a moderate fitness level for those kayaking with children, as the adult will do all the work.
- We require one adult per teen, 15-17, to attend the experience and sign waivers. However, there does not have to be a one-to-one adult ratio, as required for children 14 and under. We rely upon the adult to determine if a single teen has the physical ability to navigate the kayak in various tides and winds.
- We require children 30 lbs (13.6 kg) or under to bring their own Coast Guard-approved life jackets, as the size is very specific, and safety is paramount.
- The weight limit is 250 lbs (113 kgs) per person and no more than 425 lbs (192 kgs) for 2 people combined per tandem kayak.
- Dogs/pets are not permitted on the experience.
- This tour caters to all skill levels from beginner through advanced.
- All kayaks are tandem (made for 2 paddlers.) For odd-numbered parties, we will accommodate a single kayaker. If planning to share a tandem kayak with a person from another reservation, please enter their reservation name in the comment box at checkout.
- Safety is our priority. Each guest will be required to wear life jackets. We will provide a glow stick for additional safety.

FAQs
What wildlife can I see at sunset while taking a kayaking tour in Destin?
While the area is home to many species of fish, crabs, rays, pelicans, birds, and dolphins, we can not guarantee they will appear during the tour. It is always a hope but never a guarantee! Even if wildlife does not appear during the tour, our experienced guides will make it fun as they search for wildlife, stop for photo opportunities, and take swim breaks.
What should I use a DEET-free bug spray on a kayaking tour in Destin?
A DEET-free insect repellent is recommended because it’s generally considered safer for marine environments and wildlife. Traditional repellents containing DEET can be harmful to aquatic ecosystems if they wash off into the water. Since kayaking brings you close to sensitive coastal habitats, many guides encourage environmentally friendly options such as repellents made with picaridin, lemon eucalyptus, or other plant-based ingredients. These products still provide effective protection while helping reduce impact on the surrounding ecosystem.
What sunscreen can I use and why does it matter?
Common sunscreens contain chemicals that can harm coral reefs, as the particles are small enough to be absorbed by corals, causing toxicity and coral bleaching. Reef-friendly sunscreens are formulated without these harmful chemicals. Reef-SAFE sunscreens go a step further by using non-nano particles, which are too large for corals to ingest, helping to preserve marine ecosystems.
Please avoid sunscreens with oxybenzone, octinoxate, and parabens. Consider wearing sun-protective clothing, like long-sleeve rash guards, as an alternative to sunscreen. If you choose a mineral-based sunscreen, ensure it is labeled ‘non-nano.’
What level of experience is required?
Overall, tandem kayaking is a multifaceted activity that offers physical, mental, social, and environmental benefits, making it a rewarding pursuit for people of all ages and skill levels.
- We welcome paddlers of all skill levels; however, kayaking can be a physically demanding activity. Winds, tides, and weather can all impact the difficulty of the paddle. Adults paddling with a child and solo paddles require moderate physicality as you will do all the work.
- Beginners are welcome on Paddleboard tours, but moderate physicality is required.

- Children 6 and under are legally required to wear a life jacket while on the water. We provide lifejackets for children over 30 pounds.
- We require children 30 pounds or under to bring their own Coast Guard-approved life jackets, as the size is very specific, and safety is paramount.
