Dead Horse Point State Park ranks among the most breathtaking destinations in all of Utah, and Bighorn Mountain Biking makes it easier than ever to explore it on two wheels. As Moab's only trailhead bike rental service, Bighorn delivers your rental bike directly to the Dead Horse Point trailhead — no hauling, no loading, no hassle. Park your car, get fitted, and start riding.
The trails at Dead Horse Point wind from scenic overlook to scenic overlook, offering jaw-dropping views of the Colorado River, Canyonlands National Park, and the La Sal Mountain range. The trail system includes beginner and intermediate options, making it an ideal choice for families and riders of all experience levels. Walk-up rentals are not always available — book in advance to ensure your bikes are ready.
Bighorn rents Marin Bikes exclusively. Choose from a hardtail mountain bike, a full suspension mountain bike with dropper seat post, or a pedal-assist e-mountain bike for an extra boost on the desert terrain.

Bike Rentals
- Hardtails are the Marin San Quentin 2 ($1,200 MSRP).
- Full Suspension Bikes are the Rift Zone 2 ($2,300 MSRP).
- E-bikes are Marin Rift Zone E1 and Marin Alpine Trail E1 ($5,000 MSRP).
- Kid's Hardtail Bikes are Marin Hidden Canyon 20s.
- Kid's E-bikes are the Bull Twenty4 e-bikes.
- Kid's Hardtails are the Marin San Quentin 24.
Ages & Requirements
- Beginner and family friendly.
- Bikes can only be ridden within Dead Horse State Park. All bikes are due back to the trailhead location by 3:00 PM (2:00 PM in June) to avoid a $25 late fee. Bikes returned after the return time are subject to additional fees.
- Canyonlands National Park is only 15 minutes from Dead Horse Point State Park. There are currently no consistent services (food or fuel) within 45 minutes of both parks. Fill up on fuel and bring lunch if you want to visit the national park after your bike ride.

Can you ride e-bikes at Dead Horse State park near Moab?
Yes, you can. Dead Horse State Park is one of the few places in Moab where e-mountain bikes are allowed on the trail. You can rent electric mountain bikes at the Dead Horse State Park location.
When can you rent bikes at Dead Horse State Park?
You can rent bikes 7 days per week during the spring and fall seasons (rentals are not available outside of these months). The spring season runs from March through June. The fall season runs from September to November.
Bike rentals are due back to the trailhead rental location by 3 pm. Hours of operation for the Deadhorse Bike Rentals are:
Reservations: 9 am - 3 pm
Walk-ups: 10 am - 3 pm
Do you offer hourly bike rentals at Dead Horse State Park?
We only offer daily rentals, which allow you to have the bikes for 6 hours. We do not offer hourly rentals. We maintain our bikes daily to ensure that they are in the perfect rental condition for each customer and that is difficult to do for hourly rentals.
Are the mountain biking trails at Dead Horse State Park beginner friendly?
Dead Horse State Park has some of the best beginner-friendly trails in all of Moab. There are also a great variety of trails that keep intermediate riders excited. The views on this trail network are incredible and offer an amazing mountain biking experience for all experience levels. The trails at Dead Horse are cross-country trails, where you don't have extremely long climbs or descends and you'll find yourself flowing through the desert with mostly smooth and fast trails. Do you rent kids e-bikes?
Yes, we do! We're one of the only places where you can rent and ride a kids electric mountain bike rental in Moab.
What types of bikes are available to rent?
Bighorn rents Marin Bikes exclusively. Options include the Marin San Quentin 2 hardtail mountain bike, the Marin Rift Zone 2 full suspension mountain bike with dropper seat post, and the Marin Rift Zone Electric Light EL2 or Marin Alpine Trail E1 pedal-assist e-mountain bike.
Do I need to book in advance?
Walk-up rentals are not guaranteed — certain bike sizes sell out regularly during busy season. You can make a day-of reservation online, and your bike will be ready when you arrive. Advance booking is strongly recommended.
Is bike delivery to the trailhead really free?
Yes. Bighorn Mountain Biking is Moab's only trailhead bike rental service and provides free delivery and pickup to Dead Horse Point State Park with no minimum order requirement.
Is there a park entry fee?
Yes. Dead Horse Point State Park currently charges $20 per vehicle. This fee is not included in your rental and is subject to change.
What trails are available at Dead Horse Point?
The trail system includes beginner and intermediate options that wind between multiple scenic overlooks with views of the Colorado River, Canyonlands National Park, and the La Sal Mountain range. Trail maps with highlighted routes are included with every rental.
What season is Dead Horse Point open for rentals?
Spring season runs mid-March through end of June. Fall season runs mid-September through end of November. Summer rentals (July through mid-September) have limited availability — text 435-200-5871 for summer bookings. Winter rentals are by reservation only — text 435-200-5871 to inquire.
Cancellation Policy
There is a 48 hour cancellation policy for bike rentals. All transactions are final within 48 hours of your reservation. Cancelling up to 48 hours prior to the rental activity will receive a refund. There is a 10% fee for cancelling a reservation prior to 48 hours due to bank transaction fees. Cancelling or no-shows within 48 hours of the activity will result in no refund.
Weather related cancellation policy: We only refund reservations due to lightning or moisture (heavy rain or snow) that can lead to trail and/or equipment damage. This means that cancelations due weather that is not ideal or is uncomfortable (light snow, rain, wind or heat) will not be eligible for a refund. June - August temperatures are often extreme and high winds are common. We do not refund cancellations due to heat and/or wind - that is the typical weather during that time period. Mountain Biking sometimes requires proper clothing like rain jackets, gloves and other performance wear. We want every customer to have an enjoyable experience, however imperfect weather is sometimes part of the adventure. Remember to bring the appropriate gear for the possible weather conditions.
What if I miss my reservation? When you reserve bikes, we hold those bikes and make sure they are ready for you. This means no one can rent and ride those bikes that day. If you reserve bikes but never pick them up, you will not receive a refund for any reason. Please double check your reservation date and bike type. If you make a reservation for regular mountain bikes and you intended on making e-bike reservations, e-bikes may not be available.
