Description

Private Guided Mountain Bike Tour at Dead Horse Point State Park

Dead Horse Point State Park delivers some of the most dramatic scenery in the American Southwest — and Bighorn Mountain Biking lets you experience it all from the saddle. This private guided tour winds from scenic overlook to scenic overlook through the high desert landscape, with sweeping views of the Colorado River, Canyonlands National Park, and the La Sal Mountain range at every turn.

All tours with Bighorn are completely private — no joining a group of strangers. Your guide leads your group exclusively, at your own pace, tailored to your experience level. Choose from a standard full suspension mountain bike or upgrade to a pedal-assist e-mountain bike for a more accessible ride with extra power on the climbs. The e-bike tour option makes this adventure achievable for a wider range of riders, including those who want to cover more ground with less effort.

Suitable for beginner to intermediate riders. Advanced terrain is available on request.

FAQs

Are these private or group tours?

All Bighorn tours are 100% private. You will not be joining other guests. Your guide is dedicated exclusively to your group for the duration of the tour.

What is the difference between the standard bike tour and the e-bike tour?

The standard tour uses a full suspension Marin Rift Zone 2 mountain bike. The e-bike tour uses the Marin Rift Zone Electric Light EL2 or Marin Alpine Trail E1, both pedal-assist full suspension bikes that provide extra power on climbs and longer stretches. The e-bike option is ideal for riders who want to cover more ground, have less riding experience, or prefer a less physically demanding experience. The maximum recommended age for the e-bike tour is 75.

Do I need prior mountain biking experience?

No. This tour is designed for beginner to intermediate riders. Your guide will provide trail riding instruction and tailor the pace and terrain to your group. Advanced terrain is available on request for more experienced riders.

What safety measures are in place?

Your guide is experienced and knowledgeable about the Dead Horse Point trail system. Helmets are provided for all riders. Despite the dramatic scenery, riders do not ride near any cliffsides during the tour.

How big are the groups?

All tours are private — your group only. There is no minimum group size for a private booking, and single-rider private tours are available.

Is there a park entry fee?

Yes. Dead Horse Point State Park charges $20 per vehicle. This is not included in the tour price and is subject to change.

What is the weather policy?

Tours operate in most weather conditions. Refunds are only issued for lightning or moisture (heavy rain or snow) that could damage trails or equipment. Cancellations due to heat, wind, or light precipitation are not eligible for a refund. Always dress appropriately for the conditions.

Cancellation Policy

There is a 48 hour cancellation policy for bike rentals. All transactions are final within 48 hours of your reservation. Cancelling up to 48 hours prior to the rental activity will receive a refund. There is a 10% fee for cancelling a reservation prior to 48 hours due to bank transaction fees. Cancelling or no-shows within 48 hours of the activity will result in no refund.

Weather related cancellation policy: We only refund reservations due to lightning or moisture (heavy rain or snow) that can lead to trail and/or equipment damage. This means that cancelations due weather that is not ideal or is uncomfortable (light snow, rain, wind or heat) will not be eligible for a refund. June - August temperatures are often extreme and high winds are common. We do not refund cancellations due to heat and/or wind - that is the typical weather during that time period. Mountain Biking sometimes requires proper clothing like rain jackets, gloves and other performance wear. We want every customer to have an enjoyable experience, however imperfect weather is sometimes part of the adventure. Remember to bring the appropriate gear for the possible weather conditions.

What if I miss my reservation? When you reserve bikes, we hold those bikes and make sure they are ready for you. This means no one can rent and ride those bikes that day. If you reserve bikes but never pick them up, you will not receive a refund for any reason. Please double check your reservation date and bike type. If you make a reservation for regular mountain bikes and you intended on making e-bike reservations, e-bikes may not be available.
