Discover Oahu’s Hidden Trails!

Step off the crowded tourist paths and into the heart of Oahu’s lush mountain ranges.  This private guided hiking adventure takes you to hidden waterfalls, ridgeline trails, and scenic bird sanctuaries that few visitors ever experience. Each trek is crafted to match your experience level, whether you’re a first-time hiker or seasoned adventurer, making it the perfect way to see the island from a fresh perspective.
Along the way, your guide will share a lifetime of local knowledge, from identifying native plants and wildlife to uncovering the deep Hawaiian history of the land. These stories and insights transform your hike into more than just a walk through nature—it becomes a journey of connection with the ‘aina (land) itself.
Respect for Hawaii’s landscapes runs deep. Every step is an opportunity to feel the mana (power) of Oahu’s trails and build a lasting connection with its beauty. Come ready to immerse yourself, not just in the scenery, but in the culture and spirit that make Hawaii’s outdoors truly unforgettable.

Not Included

  • Gratuity - Never expected but if you have a great experience, please consider gifting 10-25% to your guides!
  • Transportation to and from your meeting point.

What to Bring / Wear

  • Sturdy Hiking Shoes - Broken in/Used before with closed toes and grippy tread! No open toe sandals or shoes allowed!
  • Hiking Socks & Gaiters - Comfortable socks to prevent blisters and small shoe gaiters are helpful to keep rocks and sand from getting into the shoe and causing blisters or cuts!
  • Comfortable Clothing - Make sure the clothing is moisture-wicking, lightweight, and fast drying! Also, the weather can change rapidly so having a few easy to remove and add waterproof layers always helps with the fast rain showers.
  • Sun / Rain Protection - Rimmed hat, sunglasses, neck covering (may attach to hat), and UV deflecting long sleeve shirts can all help to combat the harmful and strong sun rays. A poncho or rain jacket along with a rain cover for your bag is important to consider as weather can change quickly in the mountains!
  • Required Paperwork & ID Cards- Signed medical form if required, waivers, license, etc.
  • Restroom & Personal Medication Essentials - Extra toilet paper and hand sanitizer is a good idea! If you need certain medications along the hike, please be sure to have them with you.

FAQs

Is transportation included?

No, guests will meet their guide at a designated location provided before the hike.

Are the hikes beginner-friendly?

Yes! Routes are chosen based on your comfort and experience level, from gentle trails to more advanced ridgelines.

Are there any insects or wildlife to be concerned about on Oahu?

Oahu doesn’t have any dangerous large animals or predators, so you won’t need to worry about snakes, bears, or mountain lions like you might on mainland hikes. The main insects to watch out for are mosquitoes, especially in shaded, wet areas near streams—bug spray is recommended. You may also see feral pigs in some forested areas, but they typically avoid people if given space. As with anywhere in Hawaii, it’s best to respect native wildlife: observe from a distance and never feed or chase animals.

Do you practice Leave No Trace?

Hawai’i has a very fragile ecosystem here in Hawaii. It is important that you don’t walk on the reefs, wear reef safe sunscreen (read our blog about sunscreens), keep a good distance from turtles and monk seals, and make sure you leave every place cleaner than you found it. You may notice your guide picking up trash at beaches and hikes. That is to ensure that rubbish doesn’t end up in our oceans, and to leave the area cleaner for the next people to enjoy. We encourage you to do the same while you are here in Hawai’i. Mahalo nui loa.

Are your tours suitable for all ages?

Yes, our tours are designed to be enjoyed by people of all ages and skill levels. We keep our tours private, that way we can custom tailor the day to what you want to see and do, and what you can handle.

What sunscreen can I use and why does it matter?

Common sunscreens contain chemicals that can harm coral reefs, as the particles are small enough to be absorbed by corals, causing toxicity and coral bleaching. Reef-friendly sunscreens are formulated without these harmful chemicals. Reef-SAFE sunscreens go a step further by using non-nano particles, which are too large for corals to ingest, helping to preserve marine ecosystems.

Please avoid sunscreens with oxybenzone, octinoxate, and parabens. Consider wearing sun-protective clothing, like long-sleeve rash guards, as an alternative to sunscreen. If you choose a mineral-based sunscreen, ensure it is labeled ‘non-nano.’
