Description

Columbia Gorge Kayak Tour – Scenic Guided Adventure on the Wind River

Join us for a gorgeously scenic kayaking adventure in the heart of the Columbia Gorge. Our guided Columbia Gorge Kayak Tour takes place on the Wind River, a calm and protected cove of glacier-fed water just a short drive from Hood River. This tour is the closest guided kayaking experience to Hood River, and because of its sheltered location, it’s a perfect outing even on windy days.

Nestled against lush forested banks and framed by towering Gorge cliffs, the Wind River offers a unique vantage point that feels worlds away from the bustle of the Columbia. The glacier-fed waters stay refreshingly cool and clear, making every paddle stroke a peaceful glide through nature. With its balance of open stretches and quiet inlets, the Wind River is both beginner-friendly and rewarding for those who simply want to immerse themselves in the Gorge’s wild beauty.
As we paddle upstream, you’ll be surrounded by crystal-clear water where you can see pebbles and fish beneath your kayak. Keep your eyes open for local wildlife—bald eagles, osprey, herons, ducks, and even the occasional otter all call this river home. Midway through, we’ll pause at a quiet beach to relax or take a refreshing dip before floating back downstream to enjoy stunning views of the Columbia River Gorge. Whether you choose a morning, afternoon, or sunset departure, this two-hour paddle is a highlight of any Gorge visit.

What kind of wildlife might I see on the Wind River?

The Wind River is home to a wide variety of wildlife. While paddling, you might spot bald eagles, osprey, herons, ducks, and kingfishers along the shoreline. If you’re lucky, you could also see river otters swimming or playing nearby.
