Custom Packrafting on the Colorado River – Private Moab River Adventure

Experience the Colorado River from a whole new perspective in your own lightweight packraft. This custom half-day adventure is designed to match your comfort level, whether you are looking for a relaxing scenic float or a playful introduction to mild whitewater. With flexible access points and highly maneuverable boats, this trip offers a unique and personal way to explore one of the West’s most iconic rivers.
Unlike traditional rafting trips, packrafts allow us to launch from a variety of locations beyond standard boat ramps. After a short walk to the river, you will inflate your own boat and receive a thorough safety and paddling orientation from your guide. Once on the water, the experience becomes fully immersive as you navigate calm stretches, gentle current, and optional small rapids, all at your own pace.
This trip is ideal for beginners, families, and experienced adventurers alike. With each guest in their own boat, you will enjoy both independence and support, creating a fun and engaging river experience that is equal parts relaxing and active. It is one of the best ways to beat the heat while taking in the beauty of the Moab area.

FAQs

Do I need prior packrafting experience?

Not at all. Most guests are first-timers. Your guide will walk you through everything from how to paddle to how to move through small waves. The learning curve is quick, and most people feel comfortable within the first few minutes on the water.

Will there be rapids?

That is up to you. We can choose mellow flatwater for a relaxing float or include small Class I or II rapids for a bit more excitement. If you are feeling adventurous, there may be opportunities for slightly bigger waves depending on conditions.

How physically demanding is the trip?

This trip is active but approachable. You will be paddling your own boat, but it is not overly strenuous. The pace is relaxed, with plenty of time to float, take in the scenery, and rest when needed.

Will I get wet?

Most likely, yes. Even on calm sections, there is usually some splashing, and small rapids can add to the fun. On warmer days, this is part of the appeal. We provide splash gear or wetsuits when conditions call for it.

Is this a good option if I want a relaxing float?

Absolutely. We can design the trip around a calm, scenic float with minimal effort. Many guests choose this option to enjoy the river, cool off, and take in the views without focusing on rapids.

Is this a good option if I want something more exciting?

Yes. If you are looking for a bit more adrenaline, we can incorporate sections with fun waves and light whitewater. You can always opt in or out of specific features depending on your comfort level.

How much time will we spend on the water?

Most of the trip is spent on the river. After a brief introduction and setup, you will enjoy a continuous float with stops as needed for breaks, photos, or instruction.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellation Policy

Groups of less than 10 people: All of your money will be refunded if you cancel prior to two weeks before your trip date. If you cancel within two weeks of your trip, but outside of 48 hours, you’ll be charged a $20/person deposit. Cancellations made within 48 hours of your trip will not be refunded.

Groups of 10 or more people: A 10% deposit is required at the time of booking. This is non-refundable, unless our guides cancel due to weather. The remaining balance is due within 48 hours of the trip date.

Late Arrivals: Although our tours are private, and we will accommodate late arrivals as we can, occasionally a late arrival can cause tours later in the day and/or shuttle logistics to be affected. Because of this, we reserve the right to cancel your tour if you arrive more than 30 minutes after your scheduled reservation time. If a tour is canceled because of a late arrival, a refund will not be issued.

Weather: Full refunds are given if your guide cancels your trip due to bad weather. Our guides will make the final "go/no go" decision based on the safety of your group. If you decide to cancel because of uncomfortable weather, our standard cancellation policy will apply.

Travel Insurance: If you believe there is a chance that you will have to cancel your tour within the non-refundable 24-hour cancellation period, we strongly encourage you to purchase travel insurance. We are not affiliated with any insurance companies, but can recommend www.travelexinsurance.com.
