Description

Clearwater Coastal Waters Clear Kayak Eco-Tour

Experience Clearwater Beach in a completely new way on this 2-hour guided clear kayak tour through the Clearwater Harbor and Intracoastal Waterway. Unlike a traditional kayak, the 100% transparent hull puts Florida's turquoise coastal waters on full display — look down and you might spot rays gliding beneath you, fish darting through the flats, or a dolphin cruising just off your bow.

Launching from the Clearwater Beach Boat Ramp, the tour winds through a network of protected coastal waterways past the bustling marina, elegant waterfront homes, and open-water stretches of Clearwater Bay. The highlight for many guests is a stop at a small, boat-only bird preserve island — a secluded sandbar sanctuary where you can step out, explore the shoreline, and soak in sweeping views of the bay that most visitors never get to see.

Wildlife in the area is abundant. Dolphins are regularly spotted cruising the harbor, brown pelicans and great blue herons perch along channel markers and mangrove edges, and rays move quietly through the shallows. Sea turtles have also been spotted from the kayaks. While wildlife sightings are never guaranteed, your expert guide knows these waters intimately and will help you make the most of every encounter.

FAQs

What wildlife can I see on the Clearwater Beach clear kayak tour?

The Clearwater Harbor and Intracoastal Waterway are home to a diverse array of coastal wildlife. Dolphins are frequently spotted cruising the harbor, and bottlenose dolphins in the area are known to approach kayakers. Rays move through the shallows and are often visible through the clear kayak hull. Coastal birds are abundant year-round — look for brown pelicans, great blue herons, ospreys, and various shorebirds along channel markers and sandbars. Sea turtles have also been spotted during tours. Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed, but your guide knows these waters well and will help you find them.

When is the best time of year to kayak in Clearwater?

Clearwater's warm Gulf Coast climate makes kayaking enjoyable year-round. Fall through spring offers comfortable temperatures and typically calmer conditions. Summer brings warm water and active dolphin behavior but can also bring afternoon thunderstorms — morning tours are usually the best bet in summer months. Winter is a quieter season with fewer crowds and excellent birdlife.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Tours run in most weather conditions. If severe weather forces a cancellation, you will be notified. Cancellations made by the operator due to weather will be fully refunded or rescheduled.

How do I get to the launch point and where do I park?

Tours launch from 69 Bay Esplanade, Clearwater Beach, FL 33767 — located directly on Clearwater Bay at the Clearwater Beach Boat Ramp. Metered street parking is available along Mandalay Avenue and nearby public lots. Clearwater Beach is a busy destination, especially on weekends — arriving 10–15 minutes early is recommended both for parking and check-in.

What safety measures are in place?

Guides are trained in CPR and first aid. All guests are provided with a Coast Guard-approved personal flotation device (life jacket). Guides lead the group and stay with guests at all times on the water.

Is there a minimum fitness requirement? Do I need prior kayaking experience?

Guests should have the upper body mobility to paddle for approximately 2 hours and the ability to walk to and from the launch area.

No prior experience is needed. Your guide will provide basic paddling instruction before you head out on the water. That said, this is an open-water tour in Clearwater Bay — not a calm lagoon paddle. Some strength and stamina are helpful, particularly on windier days, and guests should be comfortable being on the water.

Do you support conservation?

Yes. A portion of earnings is donated to Florida Land & Springs Conservation. The guides are passionate about the environment and emphasize responsible wildlife viewing throughout every tour.

Is swimming part of the activity?

No. This experience is focused on kayaking and exploring the shoreline during the island stop. For safety reasons, participants are strictly prohibited from swimming, entering, or remaining in the water during any scheduled kayak tours. Swimming is not part of the program and will not be supervised by the

Do I have to get out of the kayak at the island stop?

No. You’re welcome to stay seated in your kayak while the group explores the shoreline if you prefer.

What is the maximum group size?

Tours are capped at 10 paddlers, keeping the experience small, personal, and easy to hear your guide throughout.
