ADVENTURE PROVIDED BY Rocky Mountain Paddleboard

FAQs

Do I need prior experience to rent a kayak or paddleboard at Cherry Creek Marina?

Not at all! Our Cherry Creek kayak rentals and paddle boarding options are beginner-friendly. You’ll receive a full safety briefing, paddle instruction, and tips for navigating the calm waters of Cherry Creek Reservoir, so you can enjoy your day on the water with confidence.

Can kids join the paddleboarding or kayaking experience?

Yes! Kids are welcome. Ages 2–5 must ride with a parent, ages 6–11 can paddle their own board or kayak with adult supervision, and ages 12–17 can paddle independently with a signed waiver. Our Cherry Creek Marina kayak rentals include appropriately sized paddles and life jackets for children.

Is there a day of the week that's best to visit Cherry Creek Marina?

If you're considering Cherry Creek Reservoir kayak rentals or paddle board rentals, we highly recommend visiting midweek. Midweek rentals at Cherry Creek Marina are more affordable, and you'll have a less-crowded, more tranquil experience on the lake.

Do I need to reserve in advance?

Yes, we highly recommend reserving in advance to ensure availability for your preferred watercraft. Additionally, prices are 10-20% more affordable online!

Do I need to pay a park entry fee at Cherry Creek Reservoir?

Yes - a park entry fee of $11 per vehicle is required. Season passes are also available for frequent visitors.

Are there restrooms available?

Restrooms are conveniently located in three spots on the west side of the park (because sometimes, nature calls before you hit the water!)

What if the weather is bad?

We totally get that weather can be unpredictable! If the conditions aren’t great, we’re happy to reschedule or hook you up with a raincheck to use anytime. Just a heads-up—park entrance fees might not be refundable, so keep an eye on your email for updates.

What kind of weather would cause a cancellation?

Safety is our top priority! A couple of quick rules: If there’s lightning nearby (or on the way) or if winds hit 15+ MPH, it’s a no-go.

Since Colorado’s weather changes fast, we do 30-minute weather holds and reassess after that. We’ll always keep you in the loop!

Are the rentals guided?

Our rentals are self guided. Our staff are always happy to answer any questions or give tips before you depart!

Can I bring my dog?

Absolutely! Dogs are welcome on all of our Cherry Creek Reservoir kayak rentals and paddleboarding rentals. Bring your four-legged first mate along to enjoy the calm waters and scenic views of Cherry Creek. For extra safety, dog life jackets are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
