Chaco Canyon Day Hiking Tour: Explore Ancestral Puebloan Civilization

Description
Step Into One of the Ancient World's Greatest Mysteries
Did you know the United States is home to a prehistoric Puebloan site so remarkable it has been compared to Machu Picchu — yet remains little known and rarely visited? Like Stonehenge, its ancient structures mark the passage of the sun with precise solar alignments along doorways, petroglyphs, and stone slab walls.
Chaco Canyon is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that served as the spiritual and ceremonial heart of the ancestral Puebloan world from 830 AD to 1250 AD. Its massive, multi-story great houses weren't farming villages — they were sophisticated public buildings used for ceremony, trade, and civic life. More than 150 distant communities emulated Chacoan architecture, connected by an elaborate system of engineered roads, stairways, and ramps that can still be traced today.
And then, in the 13th century, it all collapsed. Villages were permanently abandoned, never to be revisited. No one knows why.
Join us beneath the expansive skies of northern New Mexico for a full-day guided journey into one of the most captivating archaeological sites in the world.
