Key West Refresher Course for Certified Divers

Are you already open water certified but haven’t been for a while? Then take our full day Refresher course to practice those old skills and feel more comfortable on your next open water dive!
You can choose from two options: a single pool session to go over essential skills or both a pool session and 2-tank afternoon reef dives! Regardless, by the end of the day, you’ll be refreshed on essential skills such as:
  1. How to remove and replace your regulator and mask
  2. How your gear works
  3. Different breathing techniques
  4. Communication underwater
  5. Safety protocols
  6. How to read your gauge and tank levels
If you choose to go on a reef dive, a short boat ride away, our Captain will select reef locations daily based on the best conditions for clear and calm diving, ensuring the best experience for you! This is the ultimate way to explore the sanctuary’s 80 species of hard and soft corals, where a broad diversity of tropical and subtropical fish all await your entrance to the crystal-clear, warm waters! If you’re lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of one of the seven species of dolphins or an elusive West Indian manatee!

FAQs

Can I fly after diving? **ANY elevation above 1000FT (305m) is DANGEROUS

Flying directly after scuba diving is incredibly dangerous and could result in a life-threatening illness called the Bends/Decompression Sickness. The Divers Alert Network (DAN) guidelines for flying after diving include:

  1. A single no-decompression dive, a minimum preflight surface or any driving to above 1000ft (305m) interval of 12 hours suggested.
  2. Multiple dives per day or multiple days of diving, a minimum preflight surface or any driving to above 1000ft (305m) interval of 18 hours is suggested.
  3. Dives requiring decompression stops are recommended to have longer than 18 hours.

Please discuss with your dive guide ahead of time what is suggested!

Can I bring a camera?

You are welcome to bring a camera but it is your responsibility to ensure it is in a DIVE safe case. Pressure increases when you are diving down and although it doesn't feel all that different to you, it will impact your camera. To be safe, a case certified to 60 feet or 18 meters is a good idea! GoPros for example have a specific clear dive housing that is rated to bring them to depth. The case must be more than just waterproof, also depth and pressure proof. The company is not responsible for any damaged or lost equipment.

The instructor reserves the right to refuse your camera due to safety concerns. You must, as a diver, still be mindful of the reef, marine animals, and your own safety and focus on the information you learned to dive safely.
