Description

Stretch Cargo E-Bike Rental — Explore Jackson Hole, Wyoming

The Pedego Stretch is Jackson Hole's two-in-one option — an extended cargo e-bike with a rear passenger seat, footrests, and a backrest that turns a solo ride into a shared experience. One person pilots, one rides along. Both get the Teton views, the wildlife sightings, and the feeling of gliding across one of America's most spectacular valleys on a single bike. It's a genuinely fun way to experience the pathways together without coordinating two separate bikes.

Beyond its passenger capability, the Stretch is also an exceptional cargo hauler — front and rear racks handle picnic supplies, camera gear, day packs, and anything else you want to bring on a full valley day together. At 400 lbs (181 kg) total capacity including rider, passenger, and cargo, it's the most capable hauler in the fleet.

Duration

  • 2 hours — Town of Jackson and immediate pathway with a passenger or full gear load
  • 3 hours — Teton Village (~12 miles / 19 km each way) — a great shared destination
  • Full Day (8 hours) — A full valley day for two — Teton Village, Wilson, and back with time for lunch and scenic stops

FAQs

How does the Pedego Stretch work for two riders?

The Stretch has an extended rear frame with a padded seat, backrest, and footrests for a passenger. The pilot sits in the standard front position and controls the bike — steering, braking, and motor controls. The rear passenger simply holds on and enjoys the ride. The motor is powerful enough to handle both riders on the flat Jackson Hole pathways with ease. Staff will configure and demonstrate the setup before you head out.

How much can the Stretch carry?

The Stretch has a total capacity (rider + passenger + cargo) of 400 lbs (181 kg). The front rack handles lighter items; the rear rack surrounds the passenger seat and carries larger loads. It's a serious hauler — multiple reviewers have used it for grocery runs, gear-heavy day trips, and full family picnic setups.

Can a child ride in the rear passenger seat?

Yes — the rear seat accommodates a child who is old enough to sit upright, hold on, and keep feet on the footrests. Confirm the appropriate minimum age and size with staff at check-in.

What is a Pedego electric bike and how does it work?

Pedego electric bikes use a pedal-assist system — as you pedal, the motor kicks in to amplify your effort. You can adjust the assist level to get as much or as little help as you want. Most models also have a throttle for power without pedaling. In Jackson Hole, that assistance is transformative — the altitude, the distance, and the mountain views that would make a regular bike ride genuinely demanding become effortless on a Pedego.

How far can I go on a single charge?

Pedego's long-range batteries are rated for 85+ miles (137+ km) per charge. The ride to Teton Village is approximately 12 miles (19 km) one way, and a full day of exploring the valley pathway network stays well within a single charge.

Do I need experience riding a bicycle to rent an e-bike?

You must be able to ride a bicycle independently before renting — with the exception of the Fat Tire Trike, which requires no balance and is suitable for anyone who cannot ride a standard bicycle. Staff will walk you through the controls and provide a tutorial before you head out.

Are helmets required?

Wyoming state law does not require helmets for adult e-bike riders. Helmets are included with every rental and are strongly recommended for all riders.

Do I need to be physically fit?

The Jackson Hole pathway system is predominantly flat and paved — the valley floor is remarkably level given its mountain surroundings. The e-bike's pedal-assist handles any gradient with ease. One important note: Jackson sits at 6,237 feet (1,901 m) above sea level. Visitors arriving from lower elevations may feel the altitude, especially on longer rides. Stay hydrated, pace yourself, and allow a day to acclimate before tackling the longer routes to Jenny Lake if possible.

Are e-bikes allowed on the Jackson Hole pathways?

Yes — all Jackson Hole Community Pathways are approved for e-bike riding under 25 mph (40 km/h). The town pathway network connects Jackson to Teton Village, Wilson, and the surrounding valley.

What is the weather policy?

Jackson Hole weather can change quickly — afternoon thunderstorms are common in summer, and temperatures can drop significantly at elevation. Check the forecast before heading out, carry a light layer, and be prepared to turn around if lightning develops. Rentals go forward in all but severe weather. Contact the shop if conditions look concerning on your rental day.

What wildlife can I see on the pathways?

Jackson Hole is one of the premier wildlife viewing destinations in North America. The valley's pathways pass through prime habitat for bison, elk, moose, pronghorn, coyotes, bald eagles, and osprey. Always maintain a safe distance from wildlife and never approach or feed any animals.

Do I need to book in advance?

Yes — booking in advance is strongly recommended. Jackson Hole is one of the most visited destinations in the United States during summer and fall, and rentals fill up quickly. Book as early as possible, especially for peak season (June through September).

Which model should I choose?

The right bike depends on your riding style, physical needs, and what you want to do on the trail:

City Commuter — A lightweight, efficient hybrid with a slightly forward-leaning position. The most road-oriented bike in the fleet. Best for riders who want a nimble, responsive feel and plan to cover serious distance on the paved pathways.

Element Fat Tire — A compact, rugged bike with 20" fat tires that handle varied terrain with confidence. The all-terrain option for riders who want stability on mixed surfaces or a more planted, adventure-ready feel.

Fat Tire Trike — Three wheels, no balancing required. The most accessible option in the fleet and the only choice for riders who cannot balance on a standard bicycle. Also ideal for riders who want maximum stability or have balance concerns. The large rear cargo bucket carries groceries, gear, or a small passenger.

Low Step-Thru Boomerang — The most accessible two-wheel option, with an ultra-low 9-inch step-thru frame that makes mounting and dismounting effortless. Best for riders with limited mobility, hip restrictions, or anyone who simply prefers the easiest possible mounting experience.

Step-Thru Interceptor — The classic Pedego cruiser. A comfortable, upright step-thru bike with a wide padded saddle. Best for riders who want a relaxed, scenic pace and maximum comfort on longer rides.

Stretch Cargo — An extended cargo bike with a rear passenger seat and front and rear racks. Best for two riders who want to share one bike, or for anyone carrying significant gear. The rear seat accommodates an adult or older child passenger with footrests and a backrest.

Not sure? Staff will help you choose at check-in and ensure you're comfortable before you head out.

Where can I ride from the shop?

The shop is directly on the Jackson Hole Community Pathway, giving you access to the valley's full 56+ mile (90+ km) network immediately:

West to Teton Village (~12 miles / 19 km one way): Head west on the pathway through open ranchland with the full Teton Range directly ahead the entire way. Teton Village is the base of the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort — restaurants, the aerial tram, and shops. A 3-hour rental covers this comfortably with time for a stop.

South through Jackson and beyond: The pathway winds south through the town of Jackson, past parks and neighborhoods, and continues toward the valley's southern communities. A great option for exploring the town itself.

Wilson and the pathway corridor west: The pathway connects west toward the town of Wilson, a scenic corridor through open ranchland and forested sections with excellent wildlife viewing. Some sections transition to gravel — staff will walk you through the route before you head out.

How hilly is the riding?

The Jackson Hole valley floor is remarkably flat despite its mountain surroundings. The pathway to Teton Village is essentially level throughout. Some sections toward Wilson and north of town have gentle grades — the e-bike handles all of them with ease.
