What part of Canyonlands National Park will we visit?

It depends! Canyonlands is divided into several districts, each offering a completely different experience. The Island in the Sky district is the most accessible and is where we typically guide half-day tours, featuring short hikes and incredible panoramic views.

If you’re interested in a more adventurous experience, we can explore the Needles district, which offers longer hikes through colorful rock formations, fins, and occasional arches (best in spring and fall).

All of our tours are private, so if you have a specific area you’d like to visit, just let us know. If you’d rather leave it up to your guide, we’re happy to show you our favorite spots.

How do you decide where we hike?

We’ll chat with you ahead of time about your fitness level, hiking experience, interests, and what you’d most like to see. From there, we’ll build a flexible plan for the day.

Since your tour is private, we can adjust throughout the day depending on how you’re feeling, weather conditions, or if we discover a spot you’d like to spend more time exploring.

Can we avoid crowds?

Yes! While Canyonlands is generally less crowded than some nearby parks, certain viewpoints and trails can still be popular. Our guides know the park well and can choose routes and timing to help you experience quieter, more peaceful areas.

If avoiding crowds is important to you, just let us know—we’re happy to prioritize that.

Will we go off-trail?

No. Our National Park permit requires us to stay on designated trails.

That said, many of Canyonlands’ most incredible views and features are accessible from these trails. Your guide will enhance the experience with in-depth knowledge and context that you wouldn’t get from hiking on your own.

What will we learn during the tour?

Our guides are local experts who are passionate about this landscape. Along the way, we’ll share insights into geology, natural history, plant and animal life, and the cultural history of the region.

We’re always happy to answer questions and tailor the experience to your interests—whether that’s photography, science, or simply enjoying the scenery.

Do we need a reservation or timed entry ticket for Canyonlands?

Nope! Canyonlands National Park does not currently require timed-entry reservations. We can enter the park at any time, though we may encounter short waits at the entrance during busy periods.

Is this tour suitable for kids or beginners?

Absolutely. Our tours are customized for your group, so we can keep things easy and relaxed or make it more active depending on your preferences. Canyonlands offers great options for all ages and ability levels.

Cancellation Policy

Groups of less than 10 people: All of your money will be refunded if you cancel prior to two weeks before your trip date. If you cancel within two weeks of your trip, but outside of 48 hours, you’ll be charged a $20/person deposit. Cancellations made within 48 hours of your trip will not be refunded.

Groups of 10 or more people: A 10% deposit is required at the time of booking. This is non-refundable, unless our guides cancel due to weather. The remaining balance is due within 48 hours of the trip date.

Late Arrivals: Although our tours are private, and we will accommodate late arrivals as we can, occasionally a late arrival can cause tours later in the day and/or shuttle logistics to be affected. Because of this, we reserve the right to cancel your tour if you arrive more than 30 minutes after your scheduled reservation time. If a tour is canceled because of a late arrival, a refund will not be issued.

Weather: Full refunds are given if your guide cancels your trip due to bad weather. Our guides will make the final "go/no go" decision based on the safety of your group. If you decide to cancel because of uncomfortable weather, our standard cancellation policy will apply.

Travel Insurance: If you believe there is a chance that you will have to cancel your tour within the non-refundable 24-hour cancellation period, we strongly encourage you to purchase travel insurance. We are not affiliated with any insurance companies, but can recommend www.travelexinsurance.com.
