Description
Bunch Bike Rental — Family E-Bike Fun on the Swamp Rabbit Trail
Not every bike fits a family. The Bunch Bike does. This electric cargo e-bike has a large front compartment that holds up to four children, one adult passenger, or one large dog — and a powerful motor that makes the whole load feel effortless on Greenville's flat, paved Swamp Rabbit Trail. Ride out the shop door and the whole family is on the trail together, without anyone left out.
The Bunch Bike is built for families who want to share the experience — not just the adults riding alongside a child in a trailer, but everyone together, right there in the cargo compartment up front where the kids can see everything, point at things, and be part of the ride. The operator sits at the rear; the cargo compartment is up front. Passengers simply need to hold on and enjoy.
Please note: The Bunch Bike is rented by the bike, not per person. The operator must be 18+ to rent and must be a strong, confident rider — the Bunch Bike is heavier than a standard e-bike. Total weight capacity (rider + all occupants + cargo) is 600 lbs (272 kg).

FAQs
How does the Bunch Bike work?
The Bunch Bike is an electric cargo e-bike. The operator pedals from the rear — with significant motor assistance — while passengers ride in the large front cargo compartment facing forward. Passengers can see everything ahead, which makes the ride especially exciting for children. The bike uses the same pedal-assist and throttle system as the standard Pedego fleet, but the added weight and handling characteristics mean the operator must be a strong, confident rider.
What's the maximum number of children in the front compartment?
The front compartment can hold up to 4 children, 1 adult, or 1 large dog. All occupants plus the rider and any cargo must stay within the total 600 lb (272 kg) weight limit.
How many passengers can fit? What are the configurations?
The beauty of the Bunch Bike is the endless configurations to meet your needs. With a 600lb weight limit you can carry a whole crew! (Rider max/250lbs.)

What is a Pedego electric bike and how does it work?
Pedego electric bikes use a pedal-assist system — as you pedal, the motor kicks in to amplify your effort. You can dial the assist level up or down depending on how much help you want, and most models also have a throttle for power without pedaling. On the Swamp Rabbit Trail, that means hills feel flat, headwinds disappear, and you can cruise farther than you ever thought possible without breaking a sweat.
How far can I go on a single charge?
Most Pedego bikes are rated for 20–60 miles (32–97 km) per charge. The Swamp Rabbit Trail runs 19.9 miles (32 km) one way from Hampton Station to Travelers Rest — riders regularly complete the full out-and-back with battery to spare.
Do I need experience riding a bicycle to rent an e-bike?
You must be able to ride a bicycle independently before renting. The e-bike adds motor assistance but handling is the same — basic cycling skills are required. Staff will walk every renter through a thorough orientation before you head out, including a complete tutorial on the controls, pedal assist levels, and throttle.
Are helmets required?
Yes — helmets are included with every rental and tour. South Carolina law requires riders under 16 to wear a helmet; helmets are required for all riders by shop policy regardless of age.
Do I need to be physically fit?
The Swamp Rabbit Trail is predominantly flat and paved — it follows a former railroad bed and is accessible to riders of all fitness levels. Multiple reviewers in their 60s and 70s describe the experience as effortless. The e-bike's pedal-assist handles any gentle inclines without effort.
Can I bring my dog?
Yes! The Burley Tail Wagon pet trailer attaches to any Pedego rental bike and carries pets up to 75 lbs (34 kg). The Bunch Bike cargo e-bike can also carry one large dog in its front cargo compartment. Add either option at checkout when booking.
What is the weather policy?
Rentals and tours go forward in all but severe weather. Greenville has warm, humid summers — morning start times are highly recommended from June through September. Contact the shop directly if severe weather is forecast on your day.
Is parking available at the shop?
Yes — free parking is available on-site at Hampton Station.
Do I need to book in advance?
Booking in advance is recommended, especially for weekends, tours, and family configurations. The shop is open Tuesday through Sunday, 10:00 AM–6:00 PM; closed Monday.
What time does the shop open and close?
Tuesday through Sunday, 10:00 AM–6:00 PM. Closed Monday. All bikes must be returned by closing time.
What models do you offer, and how do I know which is right for me?
The fleet includes five main models for individual riders plus family and cargo options. Here's a quick guide:
- Interceptor (Cruiser Style Step-Thru) — The classic Pedego beach cruiser feel with a low step-thru frame. Comfortable, upright riding position. Great for most riders looking for an easy-on, easy-off option.
- Boomerang (Ultra Low-Step Cruiser) — The lowest step-over of the fleet, designed for maximum accessibility. Ideal for riders with limited mobility or those who prefer the easiest possible mounting.
- Avenue (Hybrid Style City E-Bike) — A more traditional bicycle geometry with a slightly forward lean. Good for riders who prefer a sportier feel or faster cadence. Note: the Burley Kazoo trailercycle is only compatible with the Avenue.
- Trail Tracker (26" Fat Tire Off-Road) — Wide, grippy tires suited for the Swamp Rabbit Trail's mix of surfaces, or for riders who simply prefer a more planted feel. The go-to for riders who want the most stable, confident ride on varied terrain.
- Bunch Bike (Front Cargo E-Bike) — A purpose-built electric cargo bike with a large front compartment for children, a large dog, or an adult passenger. See the Bunch Bike listing for full details.
