FAQs
Does Breck Sports Peak 8 rent helmets?
Yes, they do. You can add helmets to your rental package or pick one up on a first-come, first-serve basis at the shop. You can't make reservations for helmets by themselves.
Although helmets aren’t required, we strongly recommend them for anyone hitting the slopes.
What should I wear?
Great question! Check out our What to Wear Skiing blog post, with a free ski trip packing list included!
What if I return my skis early?
We'll refund you for the remaining whole days that you won't use your equipment. Gear returned after 9 AM will be charged for that day.
Does Breck Sports Peak8 let you exchange your skis?
Yes, you can swap out your skis any time at any Vail Resorts/Epic Mountain Gear location.
Can we pick up our skis the day before?
Yes, and we welcome it. Pick up your equipment any time after 3 PM and you won’t be charged for that day.
Can I bring my own boots?
Of course. On the equipment selection page (Step 3) un-check the box by boots when you pick your package. If you forget to pack your boots, they’re available for walk-in rentals on a first-come, first serve basis.
Does Breck Sports Peak 8 have larger sizes of ski and snowboard boots?
We do, up to size 16 for skis and 15 for snowboards. They’re in demand, so reserve your package in advance to make sure they’re available when you need them.
Can I exchange my ski rental for a snowboard?
You can. Stop into any location to swap them out. There may be a price adjustment.
Can you deliver my rental equipment to my hotel?
Yes. Condos and vacation homes, too. Choose delivery when ordering online at select resorts and we’ll bring the gear to you. We currently offer rental delivery at Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Crested Butte. Heavenly, Keystone, Northstar, Park City, Vail and Whistler Blackcomb.
Can I choose my skis?
Our expert team members will have a suggested ski waiting for you on arrival based on your skier type, local conditions and your personal details. They’re happy to provide additional options if needed when you arrive.
Do you have ski clothing available for rent?
No, not at this time. Many Epic Mountain Rentals locations have accessories (gloves, goggles, helmets and more) for purchase. Check out these Breckenridge ski rental shops who also provide ski clothing rental.
Can I rent just boots without renting skis or a snowboard?
You can rent boots by themselves on a first-come, first-serve basis. We don’t take online reservations. They range from USD $15 to $25 per day. If you bring your own skis and want to rent boots with us, your bindings must meet manufacturer safety requirements. To make sure, we’ll run a functionality test. It costs about $30.
Can you store my equipment overnight?
On-Snow Valet may be available at this location so you can leave your gear on the hill and pick it back up the next day. Ask a team member when you pick up your gear for pricing.
Can children under 18 rent gear?
We require a parent or legal guardian to sign a release of liability on behalf of an unaccompanied person younger than 18 years old. Download, complete and print this waiver and send it with your child. They will not be able to participate if the release is not signed. No exceptions.
What is the age limit for kids rentals?
Kids rentals are great for ages 12 years and under.
What equipment rentals are eligible for the 20% Epic Mountain Rewards passholder discount?
The following products are eligible for the 20% Pass Holder discount with Epic Mountain Rewards: Demo skis, Performance skis, Sport skis, Kids skis, Demo Snowboard, Sport Snowboard, and Kids Snowboard, Helmets, and Boots. Does the Epic Mountain rewards discount apply to delivery?

How do I determine my skier type?
The factors that determine the release setting on your ski bindings include your height, weight, age, boot sole length, and your personal release preference. You are responsible for determining your own release preference based upon the chart below and for informing the ski shop technician of your preference. Your ski shop technician cannot make this determination for you. Be sure to provide accurate information regarding your height, weight, age and personal release preference. Errors may increase your risk of injury.
Type I: Entry-level skiers who are uncertain of their preference. Entry-level skiers and skiers who designate themselves as Type I receive lower than average ski binding release settings. This corresponds to easier ski binding release in a fall.
Type II: Most skiers are satisfied with a Type II setting. Skiers who designate themselves as Type II receive average ski binding release settings appropriate for most recreational skiing.
Type III: Skiers who designate themselves as Type III receive higher than average release settings. This corresponds to decreased risk of inadvertent binding release and increased risk of non-release. This classification is not recommended for skiers 47 lbs. (21 kg) and under.
If from experience, you have been dissatisfied with the release settings that result from your release preference, mention this to your binding ski shop technician.
