FAQs

Are we able to swim in the Lake?

Absolutely! There are spots on the lake where you can take a swim.

What is the usual water temperature of the Lake?

Water temperatures can range from the low 50s in the winter to the low 80s during the summer months. Wind can sometimes turn this glassy water into 4- to 6-foot swells with very choppy conditions.

What if the weather gets bad?

We’ll always keep you informed on the weather in the event we need to cancel due to the conditions.

Do I need to have paddling skills to join?

No previous kayaking experience is needed. Boulder Islands tours take place on calm, slow-moving water, and your guide will provide a short safety talk and paddling instruction before launching. The trip moves at an easy pace with plenty of breaks, making it suitable for beginners or anyone who hasn’t paddled before. If you’re comfortable being on the water and can follow basic instructions, you’ll do great.
