Description

Best of Boulder E-Bike Tour — Guided E-Bike Tour in Boulder, Colorado

Boulder is one of America's great cycling cities, and this guided tour was designed to prove it. In roughly 2.5 hours, your local guide leads you along the Boulder Creek Path, through the University of Colorado's stunning campus, up to the National Center for Atmospheric Research perched above the city, and to the historic grounds of Chautauqua Park at the base of the Flatirons — all on a Pedego e-bike that makes the climbs feel effortless.

This is the only guided e-bike tour in Boulder that departs from a brick-and-mortar shop with its own restrooms, air conditioning, and private parking lot. From the moment you arrive, the shop's expert staff get you fitted, oriented, and ready to ride. The route winds through a mix of dedicated bike paths, quiet residential streets, and scenic corridors that showcase why this city has been called the happiest in America.

The route covers approximately 10–12 miles (16–19 km) and is suitable for riders of all fitness levels — the pedal-assist motor handles the elevation, including the climb toward NCAR, so you can stay focused on the scenery and the stories your guide is sharing.

FAQs

What is a Pedego electric bike and how does it work?

Pedego electric bikes use a pedal-assist system — as you pedal, the motor kicks in to amplify your effort. You can dial the assist level up or down depending on how much of a workout you want. The motor does not do all the work on its own; you still pedal, but hills feel flat and headwinds disappear. Most Pedego models also have a throttle, which can move the bike forward without pedaling — useful for starting from a stop.

How far can I go on a single charge?

Range depends on the model, rider weight, terrain, wind, and assist level used. Most Pedego bikes are rated for 20–60 miles (32–97 km) per charge. On a relaxed ride at moderate assist, expect to comfortably cover 25–40 miles (40–64 km). Staff can advise on range for the specific routes they recommend.

Do I need experience riding a bicycle to use an e-bike?

You should be comfortable riding a standard bicycle before using an e-bike. The pedal-assist adds speed and power, which makes basic bike-handling skills important. If you haven’t ridden in a while, practicing in a flat, quiet area first is a good idea. Staff will walk you through the controls during your orientation.

Are helmets required?

Yes — helmets are required for all riders with no exceptions. Helmets are included with every rental and tour.

Do I need to be a strong cyclist?

Not at all. The pedal-assist motor is designed to level the playing field — you don’t need cycling fitness or experience with hills. You do need to be comfortable riding and balancing a bicycle. If you can ride a bike, you can do this.

What is the weather policy?

Rentals and tours go forward rain or shine — e-bikes handle light rain well and are a great way to get out regardless of the weather. In the event of severe weather or dangerous conditions, please contact the shop directly to discuss your options.

What happens if I get a flat tire or the bike has a mechanical issue?

Contact the shop directly if you experience a mechanical issue during your rental. For guided tours, your guide carries basic tools for minor issues. Guests are responsible for stolen bikes — keep someone with the bikes at all times when stopped.

Is parking available at the shop?

Yes — there is a private parking lot on-site, in front of and beside the building on Broadway between Portland Place and North St.

Do I need to book in advance?

Booking in advance is strongly recommended, especially on weekends and during peak season (May through October). The shop is open Wednesday through Sunday, 10:00 AM–5:00 PM; closed Monday and Tuesday.

What time does the shop open and close?

Wednesday through Sunday, 10:00 AM–5:00 PM. Closed Monday and Tuesday. All bikes must be returned by closing time.

Cancellation Policy

Important : No-shows will be charged the full price as well as any last minute cancellations due to comfort with the equipment or a rider being deemed as unable to operate bicycle. Customers unable to safely ride the bikes as strictly pedal bikes (i.e. unable to balance when riding as a regular bike) will be considered a last minute cancellation. No refunds will be given to parties with participants under 18 years of age.
