Hike to a Hidden Waterfall Near San Juan!

Escape the ordinary and step into the heart of Puerto Rico’s lush wilderness on this hidden waterfall adventure! This guided hike to Charco Prieto Waterfall takes you deep into the scenic mountains of Bayamón, where you’ll trek through a jungle-like landscape, cross rivers, and climb over fallen logs to reach a breathtaking 130-foot cascade.

Along the way, you’ll discover beautiful flora, hear the calls of endemic birds, and even take a refreshing dip in natural pools fed by cool, clear mountain water. Led by certified interpretive guides, this immersive experience is the perfect way to connect with Puerto Rico’s untamed beauty.

Just 40 to 50 minutes from San Juan, this off-the-beaten-path trail is one of Bayamón’s best-kept secrets. Known only to the most adventurous people who dare to venture into this far corner of Bayamón. The hike to the main waterfall takes approximately 40 to 60 minutes, depending on your fitness level, and promises a true adventure. You’ll climb over trees, jump across streams, and traverse fallen logs. Upon reaching the stunning waterfall, you’ll have plenty of time to explore, capture photos, and swim in the crystal-clear waters. Afterward, we’ll return to San Juan, leaving you with unforgettable memories of your Puerto Rican adventure.

Location / Where to Meet

There are two options when booking to either include transportation from San Juan for an extra fee or transport yourself to a meeting location!
The location of where to meet will be sent to you after booking but if you transport yourself, it will be near Cascada Charco Prieto in Bayamón.
If purchasing a tour with pick-up, round-trip transportation will be included from a meeting point centrally located in the Condado area of San Juan.
The tour will commence promptly at the scheduled time. GeoAventuras PR will only wait up to 15 minutes with notification of tardiness and the tour will be considered redeemed. No refunds or rescheduling will be provided.

Ages & Requirements

A minimum age of 6 years old is allowed on the tour.
Waivers must be signed by all individuals or legal guardians of minors participating in the tour.
Guests must be in good physical condition and be able to walk to stand for long periods.
Tour may be canceled or rescheduled if a minimum of 4 spots are not booked.
We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone they deem unfit or unsafe to participate.

What to Bring / Wear

Sturdy Hiking Shoes - Broken in/Used before with closed toes and grippy tread! Hiking boots or slip-resistant sneakers. Bring flip flops separately to let your feet breathe and stay dry after hiking.
Comfortable Clothing & Swimsuits - Make sure the clothing is moisture-wicking, lightweight, and fast drying! Lightweight, synthetic clothing or a swimsuit is best recommended for the activities. Avoid wearing jeans or sweats.
Rain Protection & Dry Bags - Rain is common in the hike, make sure to bring rain protection for valuables like a camera or phone.
Bring towels to dry off after swimming in the river and waterfall/
Bring cash in case you see something you'd like to buy on the way.
Sun Protection (Hats, Sunscreen, etc.) & Insect Repellent.
Required Paperwork & ID Cards- Signed medical form if required, waivers, license, etc.
Restroom Essentials - Extra toilet paper and hand sanitizer is a good idea!
Water & Snacks
Waterproof Camera - The company is not responsible for any damaged or lost items.
Please remove any jewelry, watches, or anything that can get damaged by water or you don’t want to lose.

Are snacks provided?

Yes, light snacks are provided. Let us know if you have any dietary restrictions and we will try our best to accommodate you. Kindly bring your own water.

Are there poisonous plants or animals around?

Yes, there are poisonous plants in the areas we will visit. Rest assured, our seasoned guides possess comprehensive knowledge and are well-equipped to guide you safely through these environments. Should you have any known allergies to natural elements, we strongly recommend carrying your prescribed EpiPen to ensure your well-being during our adventure.

How do photos work?

Pictures and videos will be taken for you and distributed at the end of the tour to 1 person per group up to 30 photos total.

Can I bring my phone, camera, drone, electronic device, etc on the tour?

We highly recommend that you don’t as they get damaged or lost by water or falls. Each participant can assess their personal risk level.

Are tours offered only in English?

We offer tours in English, Spanish, and Spanglish at this time. Please email us if you would like to make arrangements for your own interpreter to join the tour.

Is there a minimum number of people required for the tour?

Yes, the tour may be cancelled or rescheduled if minimum of 4 spots are not booked. We will reach out in advance to make arrangements if this is the case.

How hard is the hike?

The hike is medium difficulty, and 45-60 minutes long. Good physical shape is recommended for the hike.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations:

Cancellations made seven days or more before the tour departure will receive a 100% refund.
Cancellations made within three to six days will receive a 75% refund.
Cancellations made within 48 hours will receive a 50% refund.
NO REFUNDS will be permitted within 24 hours of the scheduled departure to ensure availability for other clients.
If you're more than 15 minutes late, you're considered a NO SHOW.
No shows will receive NO REFUNDS

Booking Modifications and Alternatives. Customers have the option to:

Change the date of the tour, subject to availability.
Convert the booking into store credit for future occasions.
Transfer the booking to a friend or family member visiting the island.
Weather-Related Cancellations. In the event of adverse weather where it is unsafe to conduct tours in the rivers, GeoAventuras PR LLC reserves the right to choose to cancel or reschedule.
If a tour is canceled due to weather deemed unsafe by our team, customers will receive a full refund. Please note: Refunds will be processed within 1-2 weeks. Requests for cancellations, changes, or rescheduling via email to info@geoaventuraspr.com.
Alternatively, we can also offer the option to reschedule the tour for another day based on availability.
Third-party bookings. If a tour is booked through a third-party company, any claims or refunds are subject to the terms and conditions set by the third-party platform or company, and GeoAventuras PR LLC is not liable for such claims or refunds.
GeoAventuras PR LLC reserves the right to update or modify this policy as necessary, with any changes being communicated in advance.
