ACA Skills Assessment – Level 2

The ACA Skills Assessment – Level 2 is designed for paddlers who have mastered foundational kayaking skills and want to validate their advanced abilities. This full-day assessment evaluates your competence in more complex paddle strokes, maneuvers, rescue techniques, and overall kayak control, ensuring you can handle a variety of flatwater conditions with confidence and efficiency.
During the 6–8 hour session, you’ll demonstrate an expanded range of skills—including refined paddling technique, precise boat handling, assisted and self-rescues, and situational decision-making—while receiving constructive feedback from certified ACA instructors and assessors. Successful participants will receive official ACA Level 2 documentation, providing recognized evidence of advanced paddling proficiency.
This course is ideal for experienced recreational paddlers, instructor-track students, or anyone seeking a formal benchmark of their kayaking skills. Whether your goal is to advance toward higher-level certifications or to refine your paddling technique, the ACA Level 2 assessment provides a structured, hands-on evaluation in a professional and supportive environment.

Ages & Requirements

  1. Group size: 2 - 5 students
  2. Participants should have successfully completed ACA Level 1 skills or have equivalent flatwater kayaking experience
  3. Students must be confident in foundational strokes, maneuvers, and basic rescue techniques, and be prepared to demonstrate the more advanced skills outlined in the ACA Level 2 assessment
