ACA Skills Assessment – Level 1
The ACA Skills Assessment – Level 1 is designed for paddlers who want to validate their foundational kayaking abilities and gain formal recognition from the American Canoe Association (ACA). This full-day assessment evaluates your competence in essential paddle strokes, maneuvers, and general kayaking knowledge, ensuring you can safely and confidently handle a kayak in flatwater conditions.
During the 6–8 hour session, you’ll demonstrate a broad range of skills—including proper paddling technique, balance, boat control, and safety practices—while receiving constructive feedback from certified instructors. Successful participants will receive official ACA Level 1 documentation, which can be used to support further skill progression or certifications.
This course is ideal for recreational paddlers, instructors-in-training, or anyone seeking a recognized benchmark of their paddling proficiency. Whether you’re aiming to strengthen your technique or formalize your skill set, the ACA Level 1 assessment provides a structured, hands-on evaluation in a supportive environment.

- Group size: 2 - 5 students
- Students should be confident in the ACA Level 1 curriculum and be preparred to demonstrate the skills outlined in the ACA Level 1 assessment.
