About
The ACA Skill Assessment course is designed to evaluate a participant’s ability to perform all of the fundamental skills along with demonstrating an appropriate level of knowledge. This assessment course provides the participant with the opportunity to receive documentation of having achieved a ACA's Level 1 of paddling ability.
Included
We are happy to provide you with a kayak (paddle and PFD included) to use during your class free of charge. This is particularly beneficial when you are just starting out and are still trying to figure out which kayak is right for you. If you already own a kayak it is advisable to learn and get used to your own kayak. However, we may require you to use one of our kayaks if we consider yours to be unsafe or inappropriate for the class.
What to Bring
- Dress according to the weather (bring extra layers in cold weather)
- For any of our rescue classes participants are asked to dress for complete immersion
- Drinking Water
- Sun protection (e.g., hats, sunglasses, sunscreen, long sleeves)

With Trip Protection: Cancel or reschedule any time up to 2 hours before tour departure. Receive a full refund, minus trip protection and processing fees.
Without Trip Protection: Cancel or reschedule up to 72 hours before tour departure to avoid fees. No refunds within 72 hours, rescheduling to another date may be possible.

Venture Outdoors reserves the right to cancel events due to low attendance or severe weather conditions. In such cases, you will be notified and given the option to reschedule (subject to availability) or receive a full refund.
