Description
4-Hour Coeur d'Alene E-Bike Rental — Explore the North Idaho Centennial Trail
Four hours on the Centennial Trail is where the ride really opens up. From the shop in Riverstone Village you're on the paved path in seconds, and with four hours on the clock you have enough time to ride east all the way to Higgins Point on the shores of Lake Coeur d'Alene — about 7–8 miles (11–13 km) each way — with a long, unhurried stop to take in the lake before riding back. Along the way you'll pass through downtown Coeur d'Alene, skirt the waterfront past the Coeur d'Alene Resort, and follow a trail corridor that's widely regarded as one of the best urban trail rides in the Pacific Northwest.
The Pedego fleet includes models suited to every frame size, and the pedal-assist makes the ride effortless regardless of fitness level. This is the rental duration most riders choose for a proper, full-scenery Coeur d'Alene experience.

FAQs
Where can I ride in 4 hours from the shop?
The classic 4-hour route heads east along the Centennial Trail through downtown Coeur d'Alene, along the lakefront past the Coeur d'Alene Resort, and out to Higgins Point — approximately 7–8 miles (11–13 km) from the shop. The round trip is roughly 15–16 miles (24–26 km) at a comfortable pace with stops for photos and a break at the lake. Heading west, riders can follow the Spokane River toward Post Falls — about 8 miles (13 km) — for a quieter, more riverside experience. Staff will recommend the best direction based on your interests.
Can I ride to Higgins Point on Lake Coeur d'Alene?
Yes — Higgins Point is one of the most popular destinations on a 4-hour rental. The trail follows the lakeshore and the views from Higgins Point are among the best in North Idaho. The hills approaching Higgins Point are the most significant elevation on the route; the e-bike makes them very manageable.
What is a Pedego electric bike and how does it work?
Pedego electric bikes use a pedal-assist system — as you pedal, the motor kicks in to amplify your effort. You can dial the assist level up or down depending on how much of a workout you want. Most Pedego models also have a throttle, which propels the bike forward without pedaling — useful for starting from a stop or cruising on a flat stretch. The motor doesn't do all the work; you still pedal, but hills feel manageable and headwinds disappear.
How far can I go on a single charge?
Most Pedego bikes are rated for 20–60 miles (32–97 km) per charge depending on the model, terrain, rider weight, and assist level used. The Centennial Trail is mostly flat and paved, making it easy on battery — riders regularly reach Higgins Point on Lake Coeur d'Alene (about 7–8 miles / 11–13 km east of Riverstone) and return without concern. Staff can advise on range based on the route and bike model you choose.
Do I need experience riding a bicycle to rent an e-bike?
You should be comfortable riding a standard bicycle before renting an e-bike. The pedal-assist adds speed and power, which makes basic bike-handling skills important. Staff will walk you through the controls and give you time to practice before you head out.
Are helmets required?
Yes — helmets are included with every rental and are required to be worn while riding.
Do I need to be a strong cyclist?
Not at all. The pedal-assist motor levels the playing field — no prior fitness is needed to ride comfortably. The Centennial Trail is predominantly flat and paved, making it genuinely accessible for all abilities.
Do you have bikes for families or riders of different sizes?
Yes — the fleet includes multiple frame sizes and styles to fit a wide range of riders, including step-thru models for easier mounting and a tandem for two riders.
What is the weather policy?
Rentals go forward rain or shine. In the event of severe weather or unsafe conditions, contact the shop directly to discuss your options.
What happens if I get a flat tire or the bike has a mechanical issue?
Contact the shop directly if you experience a mechanical issue during your rental. Keep bikes locked when stopped and never leave them unattended — guests are responsible for the bikes during the rental period.
Can I bring my camera or phone?
Absolutely. The Centennial Trail offers stunning views of the Spokane River, lakefront, and surrounding mountains. The shop is not responsible for lost or damaged belongings.
Is parking available at the shop?
Yes — free parking is available throughout Riverstone Village, with a covered parking garage also available.
Do I need to book in advance?
Booking in advance is recommended, especially on weekends and during peak season (June through September). The shop is open Monday and Thursday through Sunday, 10:00 AM–5:00 PM; closed Tuesday and Wednesday.
What time does the shop open and close?
Monday and Thursday through Sunday, 10:00 AM–5:00 PM. Closed Tuesday and Wednesday. All bikes must be returned by 5:00 PM unless on a 24-hour rental.
Is the North Idaho Centennial Trail paved?
Yes — the Centennial Trail is predominantly paved with asphalt or concrete. There are a small number of sections where the trail runs alongside roads rather than fully separated; your guide will walk you through what to expect before you head out.
Are e-bikes allowed on the North Idaho Centennial Trail?
Yes — Class 1 and Class 2 e-bikes are permitted on the Centennial Trail. Idaho state law treats Class 1 and 2 e-bikes the same as regular bicycles on paved multi-use paths.
Is there free parking at the shop?
Yes — free parking is available throughout Riverstone Village, with a covered parking garage also available for longer stays.
