Description

2-Hour Coeur d'Alene E-Bike Rental — Explore the North Idaho Centennial Trail

Coeur d'Alene is one of the Pacific Northwest's most beautiful small cities, and the best way to see it is on two wheels. The shop sits in Riverstone Village, right alongside the North Idaho Centennial Trail — a 23-mile (37 km) paved path that winds along the Spokane River and out to the shores of Lake Coeur d'Alene. You're on the trail within seconds of picking up your bike.

Two hours is a great window for a first-time e-bike experience or a scenic Centennial Trail sampler. Head east toward downtown and the waterfront, where the trail skirts the lake with views of the Coeur d'Alene Resort and the mountains beyond. Head west and follow the Spokane River through quiet residential stretches toward Post Falls. Staff will point you in the right direction based on your pace and what you want to see.

Duration

2-Hour Rental — Arrive a few minutes early for bike fitting and a brief orientation on the controls. Bikes must be returned to the shop by the end of your rental window.

ADVENTURE PROVIDED BY Pedego Coeur d'Alene

FAQs

Where can I ride in 2 hours from the shop?

The shop is steps from the North Idaho Centennial Trail. Heading east, the trail passes through Riverstone and follows the Spokane River into downtown Coeur d'Alene — about 2–3 miles (3–5 km) — then continues along the lakefront past McEuen Park and the Coeur d'Alene Resort toward Higgins Point. In 2 hours, most riders comfortably reach the downtown waterfront area and back at a relaxed pace. Heading west, the trail follows the Spokane River toward Post Falls through a quieter, more residential stretch. Staff will tailor their route suggestion based on your pace and interests.

What is a Pedego electric bike and how does it work?

Pedego electric bikes use a pedal-assist system — as you pedal, the motor kicks in to amplify your effort. You can dial the assist level up or down depending on how much of a workout you want. Most Pedego models also have a throttle, which propels the bike forward without pedaling — useful for starting from a stop or cruising on a flat stretch. The motor doesn't do all the work; you still pedal, but hills feel manageable and headwinds disappear.

How far can I go on a single charge?

Most Pedego bikes are rated for 20–60 miles (32–97 km) per charge depending on the model, terrain, rider weight, and assist level used. The Centennial Trail is mostly flat and paved, making it easy on battery — riders regularly reach Higgins Point on Lake Coeur d'Alene (about 7–8 miles / 11–13 km east of Riverstone) and return without concern. Staff can advise on range based on the route and bike model you choose.

Do I need experience riding a bicycle to rent an e-bike?

You should be comfortable riding a standard bicycle before renting an e-bike. The pedal-assist adds speed and power, which makes basic bike-handling skills important. Staff will walk you through the controls and give you time to practice before you head out.

Are helmets required?

Yes — helmets are included with every rental and are required to be worn while riding.

Do I need to be a strong cyclist?

Not at all. The pedal-assist motor levels the playing field — no prior fitness is needed to ride comfortably. The Centennial Trail is predominantly flat and paved, making it genuinely accessible for all abilities.

Do you have bikes for families or riders of different sizes?

Yes — the fleet includes multiple frame sizes and styles to fit a wide range of riders, including step-thru models for easier mounting and a tandem for two riders.

What is the weather policy?

Rentals go forward rain or shine. In the event of severe weather or unsafe conditions, contact the shop directly to discuss your options.

What happens if I get a flat tire or the bike has a mechanical issue?

Contact the shop directly if you experience a mechanical issue during your rental. Keep bikes locked when stopped and never leave them unattended — guests are responsible for the bikes during the rental period.

Can I bring my camera or phone?

Absolutely. The Centennial Trail offers stunning views of the Spokane River, lakefront, and surrounding mountains. The shop is not responsible for lost or damaged belongings.

Is parking available at the shop?

Yes — free parking is available throughout Riverstone Village, with a covered parking garage also available.

Do I need to book in advance?

Booking in advance is recommended, especially on weekends and during peak season (June through September). The shop is open Monday and Thursday through Sunday, 10:00 AM–5:00 PM; closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

What time does the shop open and close?

Monday and Thursday through Sunday, 10:00 AM–5:00 PM. Closed Tuesday and Wednesday. All bikes must be returned by 5:00 PM unless on a 24-hour rental.

Is the North Idaho Centennial Trail paved?

Yes — the Centennial Trail is predominantly paved with asphalt or concrete. There are a small number of sections where the trail runs alongside roads rather than fully separated; your guide will walk you through what to expect before you head out.

Are e-bikes allowed on the North Idaho Centennial Trail?

Yes — Class 1 and Class 2 e-bikes are permitted on the Centennial Trail. Idaho state law treats Class 1 and 2 e-bikes the same as regular bicycles on paved multi-use paths.

Is there free parking at the shop?

Yes — free parking is available throughout Riverstone Village, with a covered parking garage also available for longer stays.
