Description

2-Hour Boise E-Bike Rental — Explore the Boise River Greenbelt

Boise's crown jewel for cyclists is the Boise River Greenbelt — a 25+ mile (40+ km) paved path winding along the Boise River through parks, cottonwood groves, and some of the most scenic urban trail riding in the West. The shop sits directly across the street from the Greenbelt, so you're on the path within minutes of picking up your bike.

Two hours is the perfect window for a first-time e-bike experience or a quick Greenbelt sampler. Heading east, you can cruise out toward Barber Park and the entrance to the Boise River canyon; heading west, the path winds through Julia Davis Park and past downtown. Staff will set you up with a quick orientation and route recommendations tailored to your pace before you roll out.

ADVENTURE PROVIDED BY Pedego Boise

FAQs

Where can I ride in 2 hours from the shop?

The shop is directly across the street from the Boise River Greenbelt. In 2 hours, most riders comfortably reach Barber Park to the east — about 4–5 miles (6–8 km) from the shop — with time to stop, take photos, and return at a relaxed pace. Heading west, you can reach Julia Davis Park and the area around downtown Boise within the same window. Staff will tailor their route suggestion based on your pace and interests.

What is a Pedego electric bike and how does it work?

Pedego electric bikes use a pedal-assist system — as you pedal, the motor kicks in to amplify your effort. You can dial the assist level up or down depending on how much of a workout you want. Most Pedego models also have a throttle, which propels the bike forward without pedaling — useful for starting from a stop or cruising without effort. The motor doesn't do all the work; you still pedal, but hills feel flat and headwinds disappear.

How far can I go on a single charge?

Most Pedego bikes are rated for 30–60 miles (48–97 km) per charge, and some newer models exceed 70 miles (113 km). On the Boise Greenbelt, riders regularly make the full ride to Lucky Peak State Park and back — about 20 miles (32 km) — without coming close to depleting the battery. Staff can advise on range based on the route you're planning.

Do I need experience riding a bicycle to rent an e-bike?

You should be comfortable riding a standard bicycle before renting an e-bike. The pedal-assist adds speed and power, which makes basic bike-handling skills important. Staff will walk you through the controls and give you practice time in the parking lot before you head out.

Are helmets required?

Yes — helmets are included with every rental and are required to be worn while riding.

Do I need to be a strong cyclist?

Not at all. The pedal-assist motor levels the playing field — no prior fitness is needed to ride comfortably. The Boise Greenbelt is mostly flat, making it genuinely accessible for riders of all abilities.

Do you have bikes for kids or families?

Yes — tandem electric bikes are available for a parent and child to ride together, and bikes with child seats are also available. A Burley trailer can also be added at checkout for an extra fee, suitable for kids up to 100 lbs (45 kg). The trailer is for children only — no pets. Contact the shop to confirm current inventory and availability.

Can I bring my dog?

Pets are not permitted in the Burley trailer or on any rental bikes. Dogs are welcome on the Greenbelt but must be leashed and managed independently — they cannot be transported on the rental equipment.

What is the weather policy?

Rentals go forward rain or shine. In the event of severe weather or unsafe conditions, contact the shop directly to discuss your options.

What happens if I get a flat tire or the bike has a mechanical issue?

Contact the shop directly if you experience a mechanical issue while out on a rental. Guests are responsible for bikes during the rental period — keep bikes locked when stopped and never leave them unattended.

Is parking available at the shop?

Yes — free parking is available on-site at 393 W Parkcenter Blvd.

Do I need to book in advance?

Booking in advance is recommended, especially on weekends and during peak season (May through September). The shop is open Tuesday through Sunday, 10:00 AM–6:00 PM; closed Monday.

What time does the shop open and close?

Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 AM–6:00 PM. Sunday, 10:00 AM–6:00 PM. Closed Monday. All bikes must be returned by closing time unless otherwise arranged (24-hour rental).

Are e-bikes allowed on the Boise River Greenbelt?

Yes — Class 1 and Class 2 Pedego e-bikes are permitted on the Greenbelt. The majority of the path is paved with asphalt or concrete. A short unpaved section exists near Barber Park; your rental agreement specifies paved paths only, so staff will let you know which sections to follow.
