Description

Two Tanks, Two Dive Sites & an Afternoon Exploring Maui's Coastline!

Leave the shore entry behind and spend your afternoon exploring West Maui’s underwater coastline by boat. This two-tank charter gives certified divers access to reef sites along Maui’s western coast without carrying heavy equipment across the beach, making long surface swims, or being committed to a single shore-diving location. Instead, your captain and dive team can choose sites based on the day’s conditions and what your group is hoping to experience.

The West Maui coastline offers plenty to discover beneath the surface, from coral reef and volcanic formations to sandy channels and hiding places filled with marine life. Keep watch for Hawaiian green sea turtles (Honu), reef sharks, rays, moray eels, tropical reef fish, and the occasional well-camouflaged frogfish tucked against the reef. Exact dive locations can vary with conditions, giving the crew the flexibility to make the most of each afternoon on the water.

After your first dive, climb back aboard for a relaxing surface interval, swap stories about what you found below, and enjoy some time on the ocean before gearing up for your second descent. Two tanks mean two opportunities to explore—and potentially two completely different underwater environments in a single afternoon.

With convenient boat entries, flexible site selection, and an experienced dive team handling the logistics, you can focus on what you came to Maui to do: gear up, roll into the Pacific, and see what’s waiting beneath West Maui’s coastline.

FAQs

How deep is this dive?

Maximum depth on this coastline charter is 40 feet (12.2 m).

How long does it take to reach the dive sites?

Boat rides to dive sites generally run 30–45 minutes, and the captain selects among several sites for the best conditions that day.

Can I bring my own gear, tanks, or camera?

Yes to all three — you can use your own mask, fins, regulator, tanks, and a camera. A rinse cooler is available on board for camera and gear.

How long is the surface interval?

Approximately 45 – 55 minutes.

Is there a bathroom on the boat?

Yes, we have a marine head.

Do you have DIN tanks?

Yes, we need 2 days advance notice.

Can I get nitrox? What blend Nitrox do you have? What percentage is the Nitrox?

Yes, we need 1 day advance notice. Nitrox blend is 32%

Would you recommend steel tanks (“100’s”) since I tend to go through my air fast?

It depends on your dimensions (height and weight) if it will be beneficial for you. If you are over 210 lbs we recommend steel tanks. Also known as “100’s”

Can I go to Hana the day after I dive?

Yes, there is no elevation gain to worry about.

Can I drive up to Haleakala (volcano)?

No, wait 18 – 24 hours before ascending to altitude.

Any activity that brings you above 1000 ft (305 m) can trigger the Bends/Decompression Sickness. Please check your hike elevation to ensure that at no time you will be going up in elevation. If the hike does go to elevation, you must treat it like a preflight interval as listed above in the flying FAQ.

Can I fly after diving?

Flying directly after scuba diving is incredibly dangerous and could result in a life-threatening illness called the Bends/Decompression Sickness. The Divers Alert Network (DAN) guidelines for flying after diving include:

  • A single no-decompression dive, a minimum preflight surface or any driving to above 1000 ft (305 m) interval of 18 hours suggested.
  • Multiple dives per day or multiple days of diving, a minimum preflight surface or any driving to above 1000ft (305m) interval of 24 hours is suggested.
  • Dives requiring decompression stops are recommended to have longer than 18 hours.

Please discuss with your dive guide ahead of time what is suggested!

I have my own regulator can I just rent the BCD?

Yes; when you make your reservation you can select which add-ons are right for you: you can either rent a Full Set of dive gear or by the piece.

As of 2021 we are providing any gear rental you need for no extra charge.

Do I need my scuba certification card?

Yes, you need to show your scuba certification card at check in in order to participate in our Maui diving excursion. Proof of certification is accepted, for example, if the office has verified you or you have a Dive Check through PADI.

Can I bring my own tanks? Is there a discount if I do?

Yes, you can bring your own tanks. There is no discount as tanks do not cost extra, they are included.

Can I use all of my own equipment?

Yes, and you do need a computer on for boat dives.
