Explore the calm, flat waters of Tempe Town Lake on a single kayak or stand-up paddleboard (SUP). Make the most of your time on the water with a full 24-hour kayak or paddleboard rental. This option gives you maximum flexibility — paddle in the morning, take a break, and head back out later without worrying about the clock. You're also welcome to take the gear offsite and explore other lakes in the area at your own pace. The lake stretches 2 miles (3.2 km) long and sits right in the heart of Tempe, making it a great option for locals and visitors alike, whether you want to paddle across the lake, enjoy views of the Tempe skyline, or soak in the desert sun from the water.
Rentals operate through a convenient 24/7 self-service system. After booking online, you'll receive an email with access instructions and a door code to retrieve your gear from the storage locker. A rolling cart is available if you need help transporting equipment to the water's edge.
Types of Rentals
Kayak options include sit-in and sit-on-top styles from Pelican (Trailblazer NXT 100, Bandit NXT 100) and Perception (Joyride 10.0). Sit-in kayaks offer a lower center of gravity for stability; sit-on-top kayaks give you more sun exposure. Both styles are beginner-designed and hard to tip over.
Paddleboard options are Jimmy Styks boards (Scout Extreme, Apex, Steeler), built with Iron Hide construction and suitable for all ability levels.
If you're renting after dark, navigation lights (white front, red or green back) are provided in the storage room.

Can I take the kayak or paddleboard to another lake?
Yes. You're welcome to transport the rental to another lake. Loading, transporting, and unloading the equipment is your responsibility.
Does the 24-hour rental mean I can use the lake overnight?
Tempe Town Lake is open from 5:00 am to 10:00 pm, so nighttime use on that specific lake is limited to those hours. If you take the gear to another location, use within those 24 hours is subject to that location's rules.
What do I do with the equipment during the 24-hour rental period?
You're responsible for the equipment during the rental period. Keep it secure and return it in the same condition as you received it.
Cancellation Policy
Customers will receive a full refund or credit with 24 hours notice of cancellation. Customers will also receive a full refund or credit in case of operator cancellation due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Contact us by phone to cancel or inquire about a cancellation. No-shows will be charged the full price.
